PLATTSBURGH — Mary Alice Abare, 98, of Clinton County Nursing Home and formerly of Cornelia Street, died Friday Dec. 21, 2001, at the CVPH Medical Center.
She was born in Essex on Dec. 4, 1903, the daughter of Joseph and Alice Mae (Dougall) Simpson.
Mrs. Abare graduated from Plattsburgh State Normal School in 1928. She taught in many rural schools in the area for several years.
Survivors include one brother, Ralph Simpson of Plattsburgh; one sister, Grace Barrett of Plattsburgh; four nieces and eight nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene Abare; an infant son, Forester William Abare; and two brothers, Wesley Simpson and Lloyd Simpson.
A funeral service will be held Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at 1 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. Burial will be Riverside Cemetery in the spring.
