Family records indicate that my GG grandmother, Elizabeth Jane Lee was born 1812 or thereabouts in Gum Springs to Asa Lee and unnamed mother.Record also says that that was in Fauquier co. I am now learning that this place is in Goochland Co. Is that correct, and where would be the best place to search Birth and Marriage records for her?? Thanks

Don't mean to make your life more complicated, but I grew up near an area called Gum Springs in Fairfax County. It was once part of George Washington's Mount Vernon estate, and is near what is now the intersection of Rte 1 and I-95 at the Woodrow Wilson Bridge. It actually has a fairly well documented history.
