My husband and I had planned a family trip this summer but with gas prices as such... *sigh*
If there is anyone who might live close by and be able to take photos of the Lightfoots buried at
Sandy Point I would love to surprise my husband with them. I would be able to provide the names, film and even some gas money.
According to
Eve Gregory (from another posting), there may be a house involved also. Information as follows:
According to Tyler's Encyclopedia of
Virginia Biography, v. II, p. 349, Phillip
Lightfoot was born at Yorktown about 1752. His father was William
Lightfoot, who had homes in both Charles City and
York Counties. The
Charles City County home was called
Teddington, and it is at
Sandy Point, on the north side of James River roughly opposite the Town of
Claremont, which is on the south side of James River. Teddington used to be a private residence, but I don't know its status now.
