I am trying to find a link between my grandfather...JAMES THOMAS GAINEY (b.1873,d.1932)...his father and mother, LEWIS GAINEY and Henrietta Wallace...and Lewis's father and mother ...ISAAC GAINEY and Harriet Barker. This information was kept by my aunt, Eleanor GAINEY Burch (Mrs. Clancy Burch). After searching the internet sites for almost a year, I can go no farther back. My mother's sisters, Eleanor Burch and Marjorie GAINEY Blackmon, were lifelong residents of Chesterfield County. I am hoping that someone following this board can give me a link to my family beyond my gggrandfather, Isaac. Any clues will be helpful. I hope to make a trip to Chesterfield County before too long to look through county and library records.
I do know this...James "Jim" Thomas GAINEY was a member of St. David's Parish Church and is buried, along with his wife, Rosa Ardilla Braswell GAINEY [and, I believe, their infant daughter, Rosa Ardilla GAINEY], in St. David's churchyard. Actually the infant may be buried with the Braswell family in Anson Co., NC. Jim GAINEY and his family lived in Cheraw at 906 Market Street. He owned a store located in his backyard and he was also the Western Union operator for Cheraw for many years.
Thank you very much for any help that anyone may be able to provide.
