Was it Washington Township? Since my gggrandfather, Nicholas Hartman, lived in Clinton Township in 1830 but I don't find Clinton Township in 1820. Thanks

Clinton Township was formed from part of Washington Township by the Pennsylvania General Assembly during its December 1825 sessions. It was named for Governor DeWitt Clinton of New York.

Alice, I have that Clinton County was created on June 21,1839. Until this date Centre and Lycoming were the counties that wccupied the land that became Clinton County. This is from The Cllinton County Register and Recorder. http://www.clintoncountypaa.com/geneology.htm
