I show a Thomas Jefferson McBRIDE married to Margaret Catherine FULK (b. 12-30-1910, Stokes Co, d. 12-20-2006, Mt. Airy) in Patrick Coounty, VA on 10-1-1927. She is buried at Korner's Grove, and I presume he is too. Margaret was daughter of John Franklin FULK & Sallie Lou MITCHELL.

On their marriage record it shows "Jeff" and his parents were Thomas McBRIDE and Sissie, both of Patrick County.

Bob Carter

You're welcome Jean.

In regards to David Brown...

The only time I've seen that name is in the family of John Brown's uncle Michael Braun who built the Old Stone House down near Granite Quarry, NC. His oldest son was a David, but he died in Rowan County around 1811. Michael's son David also apparently had a son named David who has yet to be accounted for in regards to his later life and where he ended up.

Info on Isaac Jones? Oh yeah, that's my specialty. I've spent the better part of the last 10 years just studying him as an individual.

If you don't mind, I'd prefer to continue this conversation via email. Here's my address... bushpusherman@gmail.com

Chris

Chris,
Thank you so much for the will and the information on the children.

Have you seen any info on David Brown? It seems that he moved from N.C. to Tn. and on to Ky. in the same areas as the Jones and Brown families. I thought he might have some connection to John Brown. Also, do you have any more info on Isaac Jones as to his first wife and the mother of his children. She must have died before they left N.C. as he remarried while living in Tn. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for sharing with me. I did get on the internet and found a genealogy for Jacob Braun. I never realized the Brown name was of German descent.

Thanks again

Jean

Hi Jean...

I've never really bothered with tracking out all the children of John Brown and Molly except for the ones that married into my Jones family, but here are the birth dates that I tend to go with based on the federal census:

John (circa 1785)
Henry (circa 1786)
Daniel (circa 1787)
Thomas (circa 1791)
Susannah (circa 1792)
Polly aka Nancy (circa 1794)
Isaac (circa 1795)
Elizabeth (circa 1799)
James (circa 1801)

I'll try and attach a copy of John Brown's will to this post. I don't have a paid subscription on here so they won't let me send you a private message otherwise I'd just go that route.

Chris

Hi Jean...

As per the will of John Brown written and dated September 22, 1830 in Surry County, NC, his children are named as:

Henry Brown
John Brown
Daniel Brown
Isaac Brown
Polly Jones (formerly Brown)...this is actually Nancy born ca.1791 that married Thomas Jones.
Susannah Feltz (formerly Brown)
Elizabeth Jones (formerly Brown) born ca. 1799
James Brown
Thomas Brown

This is the order they are listed in the will, not by date of birth.

I have yet to find any record of the will being probated in court and tend to believe that this John Brown is the same John Brown that is buried in the George Messick family cemetery, date of death Feb. 12, 1834.

Chris

Chris,
I guess I am very anxious to get some answers so I have been busy looking up what I have so far on the Brown family. I have Elizabeth married to Burrell Jones and her sister Nancy married Thomas I. Jones. They are brothers and sons of Isaac Jones b. ab. 1769 in Md. He moved to N.C. for a period of time and then on into Tn, and eventually to Ky.
I would like to know if David Brown b. ab.1793 is the son of John and Molly. He married Elizabeth Robertson. I had one Jones researcher send me names of John and Molly's children but it did not list Nancy. I would love to know the names you have for them and dates of birth.

I got the name of Elizabeth June from a book written by Henry Earl Jones about the Jones' of Calloway and Marshall Co. Ky.

I have so many questions but will try not to burden you with too many at one time.

I am so happy to have found someone who can fill in some gaps for me.

Jean

I will have to check my records to see where I got the name June so give me a couple of days. I have many questions so I will get back with you soon. Thank you again.
Jean

Hi Jean...

The parents of Nancy & Elizabeth Brown were John Brown and Molly "last name unknown". It's not Molly McCulloch like past researchers have believed. John Brown was born in Rowan County, NC around 1767 and died in Surry County in 1830. He was the son of Jacob "The Wagonmaker" Braun and Elizabeth Goettgen.

Elizabeth Brown is my maternal great(x4) grandmother. I'm curious where you get the middle name "June" from? I've never seen that before. Elizabeth died after 1870 in Independence County, AR.

I live pretty close to where the Jones and Browns lived in Surry County (now Yadkin County), NC and have tons of info on these two families (actual documents, not second hand info from the internet or published abstract books).

If I can be of assistance, feel free to ask.

Chris
