GREENSBORO — Dora Athleen
Welborn, 86, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at
Moses H. Cone Mem- orial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 7, at Martin Avenue
Baptist Church with Dr. James
Talbert officiating. Entombment will follow at Lakeview Memorial
Park Mausoleum.
A
Surry County native, Athleen was born February 25, 1923, the daughter of Walter
Pinnix and
Nannie Calloway Pinnix.
She was a member of
Woodard Memorial
Baptist Church and retired from Greensboro Manufacturing Company.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by all of her brothers and sisters; her loving husband,
Otis C. Welborn Jr. in 2005 and son Mike
Welborn in 2009.
Athleen is survived by five children, Ricky
Welborn and wife, Susan, of Elon, Kay Parrish and husband, Mike, of Greensboro,
Stuart Welborn and wife, Pam, of Browns
Summit, Margie
Phillips and husband, Lanny, of
Jackson Springs and Donna
Welborn, of the home.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:30 p.m. Friday evening, November 6, at
Forbis & Dick North
Elm Chapel.
