      <description>PINNACLE- Mr. Curtis Ray Collins, age 69, of Pinnacle passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Mr. Collins was born in Stokes County on February 3, 1940 to the late William Lee and Flora Ella Brown Collins. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Mr. Collins retired from the City of Kernersville and was of the Baptist faith. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Curtis is survived by one daughter Renee Collins Freeman and son-in-law James L. Freeman of Pinnacle; three grandchildren, David Ray Lunsford, Eddie Lee Green and Stephanie Nichole Freeman; two great grandchildren, Elizabeth Renee Lunsford and Macy Jayne McKensie; one sister, Rosie Brown of Apex, NC. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Mr. Collins was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Patsy M. Collins, one son, Dennis Ray Collins and one daughter, Tonya Gail Collins. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2009 at Cox-Needham Chapel at 2:00 P.M with Bro.       <description>GERMANTON - Mrs. Sadie Massey Hartgrove, 88, died Friday, November 20, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospice House in Bogart, GA. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;She was born in Calhoun County, MS to John Stoklin and Annie Paradine Turner Massey. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;She retired from Western Electric Company in Winston-Salem, NC as a Payroll Accountant after many years of service. She was a member of Germanton Baptist Church. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;In addition to her parents, she was preceeded in death in 1983 by her husband, Clyde Thomas Hartgrove; a sister, Canzie Massey McGuire; and two brothers, Hugh Dean Massey and John W.       <description>KING - Ty Eric Boles, 42, died Tuesday, November 24, 2009. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He was born August 14, 1967 in Forsyth County to Steven Lee Boles, Sr. and Pam Kiser Boles. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Ty was a 1985 graduate of South Stokes High School and 1989 graduate of UNC Charlotte. He served on the Stokes County Board of Education for 8 years. Ty was one of the founding members and the first vice-president of the West Stokes Prowlers Youth Organization and also coached King Little League and SCYBL. He most recently attended Olive Grove Baptist Church. Along with his other activities he most enjoyed spending time with his family and with his buddies out saltwater fishing or enjoying a ballgame. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He is survived by his wife, Karen Wheeler Boles, and his children, Taylor Elizabeth Boles and Dalton Blake Boles; his mother and father, Pam and Steve Boles; maternal grandmother, Adeline Hall Kiser, a brother, Steven Lee Boles, Jr. and wife, Tina; mother and father-in-law, Lenora and Denny Wheeler; nieces and nephews, Brock Wheeler, Lindsay Wheeler, Brittany Boles and Seth Boles. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;A Celebration of Life Service will be held 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 27, at West Stokes High School with the Rev.       <description>(photo)&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;WINSTON-SALEM - Mr. Joseph Daniel Mitchell, 83, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at his home. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He was born in Stokes County to James Edward and Ida Mae Bowman Mitchell. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He retired from Western Electric after 35 years of service and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Mr. Mitchell served in WWII aboard the U.S.S. Ticonderoga in the Pacific Ocean from January 1945 until October 1945. He loved to work in his garden and fishing at the coast. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Edith Wolfe Mitchell in 2008 and three brothers: Charles Bailey Mitchell, James Morrison Mitchell and Clarence Mitchell; and grandson, Captain Seth Mitchell, USMC. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He is survived by three children: Larry J. Mitchell of Pinnacle, Steve (Connie) Mitchell of Apex and Chris (Rhonda) Mitchell of Winston-Salem, five grandchildren: Kari (Shane) Hundley, Drew, Matthew, Paul and Chad (Amanda) Mitchell; two great-grandchildren, Colby and Riley Mitchell; three sisters, Alma Wagoner and Frankie Wright of Asheboro and Kathlene Tedder of Quaker Gap; one brother, John W.       <description>A John Redmon signed for a bond for George &amp;amp; John Jackson to administer the estate of their father, Samuel Jackson in Prince William County, Virginia in 1786.  Does anyone know in what way John Redmon is connected to these Jacksons that he would risk his money on their integrity?  &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;James Greenstad also shared in the bond. Samuel's will was witnessed by Benjamin Mattison, Thomas Mattison and Isaac Murphy. </description>

Reynolds Hospice Home. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;She was born in Guilford County to John R. and Addie Duggins Duggins. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;She retired from Hanes Knitting in 1986 with 33 years service. She attended Wilson Primitive Baptist Church; enjoyed being a homemaker; and was known for loving her family. She was preceded in death by her parents. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Roy M. He loved playing Rook, watching old westerns, listening to gospel music and helping others. As well as during his younger years, he was a member of CC Camp for 3 years. He was a special man who touched the hearts of all that he met. He was a beloved Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Mr. Hall. is survived by his wife of 37 years, Ethel F. Mr. Moser was an active member of Rescue Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday school superintendent and Choir director.       <description>HIGH POINT - Alvin Rexneal "Rex" Pell, Sr. age 88, a former resident of Pine Circle Drive died Wednesday, November 11th at Westwood Health and Rehabilitation Center in Archdale. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Born May 21, 1921 in Stokes County, Mr. Pell was a son of the late James S. and Lilly Lawson Pell. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He had been a resident of High Point most of his life and was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. A Veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in Central Europe during the Rhineland campaign and was awarded a Purple Heart, American Theater Victory Medal and a Campaign Medal with two Bronze service Stars. For thirty five years, he was employed at Burlington Hosiery as a machine fixer. Following Burlington's closing of the High Point Mill, Rex worked at Tex-Elastic and Mac Panel, where he retired at the age of 74. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;On March 9, 1946, he married Martha L. Waller, who died December 9, 2002. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Rex is survived by two children, Yvonne Martin of High Point and Alvin R. Pell, Jr. and his wife, Sherry of Kernersville; three grandchildren, William Alan Rice of Lynchburg, VA, Suzanne R. Martinson and her husband, Greg of Angier and Renee R. Steed of Clemmons; and seven great-grandchildren, Josh, Vanessa, Jacob, William, Taylor, Amanda and Michael. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Woodlawn Baptist Church with the Rev.       <description>SOHPIA — Richard Wilson, 71, died November 18, 2009. &lt;br&gt;Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 21, 2009, at Cumby Family Funeral Service Chapel, Asheboro. &lt;br&gt;Cumby Family Funeral Service in charge of arrangements. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Published in News Record on November 20, 2009&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;-----&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;(photo)&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Richard Wilson, 71, resident of Sophia, passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at his residence.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He was born May 14, 1938 in Stokes County, a son of the late Jesse Reid Wilson and Cora Wilson.  &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He was a resident of High Point most of his life and was an active member and deacon of Full Gospel Miracle Ministries.  He loved his church family dearly and is waiting to greet them on the other side.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, John D Wilson, Henry Wilson, Gilmer Wilson, Andrew Wilson and sisters Louise Williard &amp;amp; Edith Rodgers.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Richard is survived by his wife Cora Lilla Wilson of the home.  They have been married 51 years.  In addition to his loving wife he is survived by his four children.  Sons Ricky Wilson and his wife Tammy of Archdale, NC and Jimmy Wilson and his wife Kristie of Thomasville, NC.  Daughters Lynn Wilson Merryman and her husband Floyd of Altavista, VA and Amy Wilson Gunter of Randleman, NC.&lt;br&gt;Richard was blessed with a loving family that includes his grandchildren Ricky, Michael, JR, Bryon, Jesse, Heather, Andrew, Lee, Lauren, &amp;amp; Dylan.  Great-grandchildren Alissa, Will, Logan, Braden, Aiden and Nalani. Surviving siblings are Mary Jones of King, NC and Elbert Wilson of Walnut Cove, NC. Richard had a special dog, Libby, that stayed by his side throughout his illness.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Richard was a truck driver for most of his life, driving for Colonial Motor Lines, Food World and retiring from Piedmont Chemical.  He made lasting friendships everywhere he went.&lt;br&gt;Richard was also an ordained minister who served the Lord throughout his life.  He often stated "The Lord gave me my first breath and I'll give him my last".  He fought a courageous battle with cancer for the last 12 years before succombing to the fatal disease.  He has left behind a legacy for his family and friends.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;A special Thank You goes out to Dr Sanders and Kelly as well as other staff at the High Point Cancer Center for all the Love and support given to Richard and his family over the past 12 years&lt;br&gt;He was our angel on earth and will now look down on us from heaven.&lt;br&gt;Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Saturday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, officiated by Reverend Stanley Savage. Interment will follow in Randolph Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Woods loved the outdoors, especially gardening and tractors. I have a Joseph Vaughn who was my grandmothers brother and am searching for connections and where they ended up and where they are buried. They did live in Stokes county until their father James died in 1895 and in 1896 (olivia and children were in the poor house at this time) two of their children(Charles Luther/Nannie Lee) were put into the childrens home in Thomasville, NC. There Charles L. died in 1898 and Nannie did move back with Olivia eventually. Olivia moved with the two youngest children (Joseph/Louisie) to the Salem Chapel Township in NC.       <description>KERNERSVILLE - Minnie Cook Crews, age 77, of Kernersville, passed away Friday, October 30, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;She was born May 10, 1932 in Stokes County, to the late Silas Edward and Nannie Manring Cook. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Minnie retired from Hooker Furniture after 30 plus years of service and was a former member of the Piney Grove Rescue Squad. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;In addition to her parents, Mrs. Crews was preceded in death by her husband, James Crews; a son, Joey Crews; two brothers; and one sister. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Surviving are two sons, Roger Crews, Jerry Crews and wife, Rachel, all of Kernersville; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild; five brothers; and three sisters. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;A Funeral Service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, November 2, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Dr. Pete Kunkle and Brother Don Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, November 1, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel and other times at the home of her son, Jerry.
