KING - Wallace Clinton Whitaker, 73, of Trinity Church Road, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2009.

He was born September 16, 1936 in Surry County to the late Albert Clinton Whitaker and Anna Mae Setliff Whitaker.

He was a retiree of Westinghouse. Wallace was preceded in death by one brother, Welford Whitaker.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; a son, Andy; and a daughter, Kerry all of King; one sister, Wenonah (Hiram) Tilley of Pinnacle; sister-in-law, Jewel Whitaker of Cocoa, Florida; brothers and sisters-in-law, Grant and Blake Smith, and A. O. "Bud" and Wilma Smith of King.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in King where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 7, 2009. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday at the church beginning at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. (Slate Funeral Home).
