Michele,

My great-great grandfather was Thomas Dick Moore, half-sibling to Zachariah. Both were sons of Pinkney Moore. I believe Thomas Dick Moore married Margaret Hannah Wood, daughter of Thomas J Wood, who would be Priscilla's brother.
I would love to see your tree to see if I can fill any missing links on mine. Mine is a work in progress, but you are welcome to see my tree as well. I will add you as a guest. I believe I have found where Pinkney Moore is buried and hope to visit the cemetery to get photos when possible. I have been to Cowden area and have gotten several photos of gravesites.

Litaker / Laidacker / etc. DNA Project

Seeking DNA test participants. We are trying to establish genealogy links to the Litaker family. This surname is spelled a variety of ways including, but not limited to:

Litaker
Lidaker
Leidaker
Leideker
Leidecker
Laidacker
Laidaker

The 1790 Federal Census shows members of this family were living in Rowan and Mecklenburg Counties but members could have settled anywhere in North Carolina. Research leads us to believe members of this family were in Pennsylvania prior to North Carolina. However, there seems to be a horrible lack of documentation to prove ancestry – thus the DNA project. If the DNA matches, we will know we are on the right track. If it does not match, they we will know to look in other directions.

We hope to find male Litakers (and other similiar spellings) to take the Y-DNA67 test. We are using Family Tree DNA (www.FamilyTreeDNA) for the project.

If you would like more information about this new DNA project, please contact me.

Linda Allred Cooper
lacooper@mindspring.com
Noah Johnson was my wife's ggggrandfather. We think that his wife Milly may have been a Stewart(not sure). My wife descends from Noah and Milly's son Henry Johnson, who had a son named Elkanah Johnson, who's daughter Docie Johnson was my wife's grandmother. This Noah Johnson may have migrated from the Person County area, where there are Indian Johnsons and Stewarts. We are going to Moore County soon and do some research.
I was trying to find out if a son of Gabriel migrated to Grayson / Montgomery Va or Rowan / Wilkes of NW NC.

I am interested in William Hardin, b bet 1753-1754 and died 1803 in Grayson County, VA. He was married to a Jemima (Unknown) They named their first born son Gabriel b ca 1781 who was both deaf and dumb.

William had 200 acres by Land Warrant of State of Virginia in Grayson county, Va. on the Little Fox Creek, off the New River, Va., His estate was inventoried on 3-5-1803.

William was a Revolutionary War Soldier. Served in Cox's Command Volunteer Militia 1782. Virginia Freeholder of 200 acres land on dividing Ridge between Elk Creek and Little Fox Creek. "Hardin's Ridge" Independence, Virginia Grayson Co., Aided Whigs against Tory invasion.

It was my thought that this William may have been a son of Gabriel Jr and migrated to SW VA just across the road from Rowan County, NC. I know some of the Eastern NC Hardins were in Pendleton, SC as were other who migrated to NW NC>\\

D E Miller

This site is dedicated to and primarily contains the descendants of Everet Wallace (c1770-c1845) of Moore County, NC along with over 30,000 names of many of the related and allied families who lived nearby in upper Moore County.

Some of the most prominent families include Maness, Williams, Cockman, Melton, Brown, Stutts, Furr, Sanders, Morgan, Britt, Horner, Hunsucker, Garner, Cagle, Davis, Moore, Kennedy, Richardson, Brewer, Williamson, Hussey, Ritter and many, many more.

I’ve also mapped out over 1100 land grants and deeds encompassing over 250 square miles of territory in upper Moore County. These records themselves contain thousands and thousands of hard-to-find references for Moore County residents and are indexed for ease of searching.

Morgan Jackson
www.MooreCountyWallaces.com

Harold
I have been trying to find who the parents were of my ancestor John H Morris and his wife Jane Coggin or Coggins. A researcher sent me info the death certificate of their son Matthew Franklin Morris who died in 1925. The counties where his parents John H MOrris and Jane Coggins were born was Moore co NC. They are listed in the 1850 Chatham co NC census and in the 1860 Moore co NC census. John H Morris was born about 1820 and Jane Coggins was born in the 1820's. John H Morris was a carpenter so he might have been in Chatham co NC for work. Anyway he and Jane Coggins had sons Daniel and Henry and Matthew Franklin Morris. Maybe their sons were named after their fathers. They also had a daughter named Frances. I assume one of the Morris families listed in the 1830 Moore co NC census was his father. Would be able to help me find which Morris family in Moore co NC my John H Morris born about 1820 was from? Thanks,Ross

I am still interested in the research of Hugh McKenzie. I am not at my paper work right now to answer questions. I was on the committe for the Moore County Heritage Book. I submitted more articles on my Davis line than my McKenzie line. You can email me directly at crdagain@yahoo.com, and I will be able to have my paper work with my. I have a picture of my great grandfather McKenzie. Maybe he was a great uncle of yours? I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Christine Davis

Would anyone have info about the William T Sloan family in Morre co NC in 1870? He was married to a Sally. I believe they had a son named George who was born in the 1850's. I think this might have been the George W Sloan that married Catherine Morris in 1883. Thanks, Ross
