I've hit a series of dead-ends on my family tree. I'm looking for additional information on the following folks from Johnston County: Drew VINSON, married to Polly PEEDIN, whose daughter was Suphronia PEEDIN(not sure why she took her mother's last name - Second marriage maybe?) Rufus STARLING father of Daniel STARLING who married Suphronia - Rufus was married to a Mary MILLINOR. Sisters Marcilla (Sally) and Axy GULLEY married a BROADWELL and an EARP. Their parents were John GULLEY and Ann BROWN. Does anyone know these people? Thanks!

I have Gulley ancestors - and considerable information on them. My Gulley ancestor was George Gulley married to Zilpha Newsom Barnes. George Gulley was brother to your John Gulley who married Ann Brown.

I believe that Francis Gulley, who married Martha Helen Edwards on May 2, 1855, is my ancestor. I think the Gulleys lived in Johnston County...in a place called Clayton?

Not all of the names you mentioned do I know but Ransom, N>Y> are related to us. I know Clayton very well and there
are many gravestones in the new cemetery there. There are several Ransoms. One was in Wake County, N>C> (a cousin) and Ransom, son of John G. Gulley. Ransom left Clayton after the Civil War and went to Arkansas. Eventually, he became the State Treasurer.

I lots of Gulley stories and family lore. If I can help, I'll very glad to do so.

On the 2 blocks of business in Clayton there is a building named "Gulley's Store."

Good Luck!!

Always glad to hear from someone on the Gulleys. I know only a little about Lewis - married to Jane Rowland?? Talked with Weynette Haun several years ago at the Gulley Family meeting in Dallas, TX. Will be happy to share what I have on the Gulleys - George, son of John Sr married to Martha Stevenson(?), son of William - and I have some info on Robert Gulley in VA - but never tied completely to our William. There's a wonderful Genealogy Report on William Gulley on the FTM web. Have you seen that?
