Does anyone have any information on this John Babington, who had 8 males and 2 females in his family in 1830 in (possibly near Weymouth, NJ) Hamilton Township, Gloucester County, NJ?

I saw a Babington marker at the Weymouth Methodist Church cemetery and I think there may be a connection between the Babington family and the Emmel and Ireland families in Emmelville, NJ.

My e-mail: handincookiejar@comcast.net

Thanks,

Joe

Thanks again, Walter!!!

Do you have any additional information on Philip Emmel's mother, Rosana, and Philip Emmel's father, (first name unknown) Emmel?

Rosana was born 1749 and died March 28, 1823 (Good Friday). Rosana is buried at Weymouth Methodist Church cemetery. What was her maiden name?

I am interested in this family because my ggg grandmother was a Mary Babington, born 1795 in New Jersey. She married James Smith Garoutte between 1809-1813, possibly in Pleasant Mills (Atlantic County) or Cape May (Cumberland Co.), New Jersey, which is near. Lots of folks have submitted dates and places for her birth, marriage and death to the International Genealogical Index maintained by the LDS.

I would like to find the names of her parents, but have been unable to locate the marriage record. Because of the proximity of Millville to Pleasant Mills, where I know the Garoutte family lived, I am wondering if there might be a connection. According to "The Garoutte History", 3rd edition, published in 1985, James and his siblings were born in Gloucester and Burlington Couties. A couple of his siblings marriages have been located in the Gloucester County Historic Society index online.

Also, I have a photograph of the headstone mentioned in your post for Rosanna Ireland Babington. Located online at http://memory.loc.gov is a photograph of a cast iron headstone originally in the Weymouth ME Church Burying Ground, taken by Nathaniel R. Ewan, March 20, 1937:
Rosanna Ireland Babington Cast Iron Gravestone, Batsto Museum (moved from ME, Weymouth), Batsto, Burlington County, NJ
Inscription reads:
In Memory Of Rosana Ireland Babington - she departed this life
July 13, 1825
Aged 18 Months
O death it is a .... all

I would appreciate any suggestions as to where I might find marriage records for this area. This marriage does not appear in the Gloucester County index online, but perhaps I should concentrate next on Cumberland County.

Regards,
Jane
