Mejstrik family

I am searching for more information on Josef Mejstrik family. He married Anna Hruska in 1871, I believe around Howells, Nebraska. Her family came to the USA from Bohemia around 1870 settling in the Colfax County, NE area. He is also from Bohemia. Her parents were Vaclav Hruska and Marie Houfek. Any info you would care to share would be helpful.

My mother is Marianne Mejstrik from Howells, Ne born 1932? My Grandfather is James Karl Mejstrik married to Mildred Wasko died in Schuyler, Ne, born 1892 & 1895. I am searching to link them back to the old country and whoever came over here may have come with a couple brothers.

Pavel Vcela may be related to me. I am still new at all of this. Looking for the link between Joseph Mejstrik and Vaclav Hruska. Do you know what it is for sure?

Truly,
Carolyn Ann Hobza-Grogan

My middle name is Ann, after my Great Grandmother whom I believe to be Anna Hruska and I believe my great grandfather to be her husband Josef Mejstrik. My grandfather is James Karl Mejstrik and my grandmother who lived to be 100 years old is Mildred Wasko-Mejstrik. My grandfather James K Mejstrik died around 1975 in Schuyler, Ne., and my Grandmother Mildred, died around 1991 in Schuyler. My mother grew up in Howells and is Marianne Mejstrik. I hope she doesn't read the message boards. Mom married a boy from Wahoo who's folks settled in North Bend eventually, and that is my Father, Anthony John Hobza, and my Grandparents Anton John Hobza and Alice Hines-Hobza.

One of my aunts and uncles on the Mejstrik side are living in Schuyler, as well as several very talented cousins who's folks are passed, reside there with their children.

Grandma had one brother Frank and 4? sisters and all but 1 lived their last days in Schuyler. Grandpa's side is a mystery as he died at the age of 85 and I have to research it and believe he is the son of Josef and Anna.

Hi,

I stumbled across your entry in the Message Boards of Ancestry.com concerning the Hobza name.

I believe I can help you with your family research concerning the name, Hobza. My grandmother is Rose Hobza. Her grandparents were Frank and Antonia Hobza (see list below). They immigrated from Roketnice, Moravia, according to one source (see link below), in 1883 with their three sons, Joseph, Martin and Mathias.

http://www.rootsweb.com/~nesaunde/1983hist/saco83-p247.html

Let me see if I have this correct.

Your father - Anthony John Hobza
Son of - Anton James Hobza and Alice Hines
Son of - Martin Hobza (first marriage) and Karolina Vyhlidal
Son of - Frank Hobza and Antonia Rambousek

I would be interested to find out if you've furthered your research.

Regards,

Matthew Cvetas

Hi Connie, my name is Kathy Lovell, my grandmother was Mary Mejstrick daughter of Vincent Mejstrick. In 1865 the Mejstrick family (all born in Bohemia) arrived in Baltimore on the Barque sailing from Bremen, Germany. Franz age 43; Mrsula age 42; Marie age 16; Franz age 10; Alois age 8; Anton age 7; Bohemil age 6 and Vincent age 3. They settled in Cleveland, Oh. Vincent md. Barbara Krtil also from Bohemia and they had Frank b.1880-1882; Mary b. 1883; Margaret b. 1885; Antionette b. 1888. I only know my grandmother's sisters and have no knowledge of her brother Frank or her uncles. Perhaps these aren't your direct relatives but might be cousins. Also, check immigrantships.net, passenger search. Not all ships came into Ellis Island. Hope this helps. Let me know if we're related :-) Kathy
