Garland,
Do you know who Sarah McGill's parents were and when she was born? I'm trying to trace the family of John & Mary "Polly" McGill who were in Taney Co. on the 1880 census. They had a daughter named Sarah who was b. ca 1863 MO. Is this the same person? Thanks, Peggy

Brenda,

The McGill line isn't my direct line, but I will be happy to share anything with you which might be helpful. Mary Elizabeth "Polly" Whiteley married John McGill. Mary was a half sister of Cynthia Whiteley who married Joseph Bohannan and they were my direct line.

I do know that John & Polly McGill had the following children:
1. Isaac B. McGill b. ca 1845 AR, d. bef. 1860
2. James W. McGill b. ca 1846 AR, m. ca 1864 to Mary ?
3. Joel Samuel McGill b. Aug 1847 AR, d. 1927-28 Bragg, OK, m. 1st ca 1868 to Martha C. ? who died bet. 1880 & 1900. Joel m. 2nd ca 1900 to Ida A. Berry.
4. Elizabeth C. McGill b. ca 1850 AR m. ca 1868 to Wm. J. Bates
5. Cynthia Louisa McGill b. 1 May 1853 AR, m. 9 Nov 1892 Taney Co, MO to James Madison "Matt" Boothe
6. Preston McGill b. ca 1858 AR, d. bef 1870
7. Sarah A. R. McGill b. 9 June 1862 MO, m. ca 1880 to James Columbus "Lum" Boothe.

I do have the names of children of some of the above. John & Mary "Polly" McGill lived in Carroll Co, AR in 1850, then migrated to Taney Co, MO by the 1860 census where they lived out their lives.

I you would like to contact me directly via e-mail, please use the above address and I can send more generations.

Who is the uncle you are trying to trace?

Peggy

I am Marilyn France, wife of Garland France, we received your reply to our entry on the Taney County Message Board.
I saw where Peggy Hermann replied to you with McGill info.
My husband only has ties to the McGill family where his Boothe family married into that family. We do not have any info on the McGill's except names of the ones that married the Boothe's.

So, Peggy is the one you need to talk to.

Thanks for your reply.

I noticed you had a message asking about Dan Kissee.
My Stuart family married into the Kissee family that lived in Kissee Mills, MO. I don't have a Dan Kissee listed but I have
the descendants of
Elizabeth Jane Kissee m. William R. Stuart
and Arter Kissee m. Martha Alice Stuart.

Click on this family group record:
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/af/family_group_recor...

also Elizabeth Jane and Arter Kissee's parents & family:
Alexander C. Kissee's family:

Sorry we could not help.

Thanks and have talked to her. She sent the info on my Arlie McGill whose mother was Mary E. Booth. My gaunt married Arlie and I knew them as a child. I have the Kissee info you shared as a Arnold cousin descends from that line also. It also seems that my uncle and possibly his brother married Arnold cousins. The Kissee's don't seem to have a Dan Kissee from all I have talked to. I don't know if he is not connected to those Kissee or what. I know they definetly lived in the area and that Dan's wife Sarah Alley ran off with a Brown and then had another child. Sarah is the step-daughter of my ggggrandfather and until I started doing this the family had no idea why their grandfather helped raise one of her sons with Dan. I apprecciate your quick answer very much. Brenda
