My Grandmother, Mathilda Wilhelmina Ernestina Senkel, was born on a farm just west of Rockford in Wright County MN. The 1880 census lists her parents as Chas. (1843, anglecized Carl) and Henrietta Senkel (1850, maiden name - Wandersee). The four older children were also listed: William (1872), Minnie (1875), Henry (1877) and Charles (1879). My Grandmother was born about 1883 and also had younger siblings: Heddie, Caroline, Laura and Jack. She married Nathaniel Patten.

Hi Deb,
I am new to this but will tell you what I have and we can go from there. The Goetz came to Howard Lake from Pennsylvania. They changes the spelling to Gates. The children of the Gates are Katherine, Caroline "Carrie", Lena, Louise, Annie and Herman. Also living with the family were Charlie and Olga Gates, possible sibling or cousins. Olga married a Beck, Lena married Charles Bantle and moved to N. D. Lena was born in Minn. She was born 22 Oct. 1866. I have no parents name however, Olgas parents were William and Olga (Sauer) Gates. Anything you can tell me about this family would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Will pull up my files in the next weeks and see what I have that is transportable, as they were compiled manyl years ago.
Edward Cramsie was born near Belfast around Antrim, the legend goes no vital records found. The families were territorial pioneers in Minnesota coming from Friendsville area of Pennsylvania. The alternate spelling Cramsey is shown on some census sheets. There is a fine history of Wright County, but it too never mentions the Nolans as brothers? Nice to hear that someone else is working on the mysteries.
Many thanks for this information.

Lillian Berg would be a relative of my mother, a first cousin once removed. Marie (Mary Frykstrom) was my mother's paternal aunt, her husband, Lars Bergstrom. The Berg's were probably living in Cokato during the time the picture was taken.

Mom had mentioned visiting family in Buffalo but never said which family. I would have never thought to check out Buffalo.

Thanks again,
Marilyn Powers

I appreciate your response to my query. I have been working on several Cramsie families and Edward and Ann Cramsie are one of them. Their daughter, Catherine, married Michael Nolan and another Daughter, Jennie, married Henry Haas. I have downloaded info from Rootsweb.com (I think) most of the info on the members of the Haas/Cramsie family, but I am sketchy on details like birth/marriage/death dates and places. Can you help fill in any of this type info? As to Michael and James Nolan, I have compiled the info on both of the families, but again can make no connection between the two. A strong case can be made that they were brothers, but so far nothing conclusive. What I would like to know is if you have any info on Jennie and Catherine's father, Edward Cramsie, b. abt 1802 in Ireland. I believe he is the brother of my GGGrandfather, Archibald Cramsie, but have been unable to make the connection. Do you have anything that might help? Would love to have what you have on the Nolan/Cramsie and Haas/Cramsie families. Can you send a GEDCOM format file or anything like that? Even a PDF file would work. I could reciprocate with what I have if you are interested. Just let me know. You van reach me at my E-mail: bcramsie1@verizon.net Thanks and Take Care!
Bill Cramsie

Not sure this is still an active post, but I see a lot of connection with my Mattson line (emigrated from Sweden to Wright County, MN)...my great-grandmother was Stina (b. 1863 d. 1942)...daughter of Eric Mattson (b.1839-d.1907). She married Lars Mattson & they had 12 children (one of which is my grandfather, John Emil Mattson...changed to Matson). Stina's grandparents (Eric's parents) were Mats Mattsson (b.1796-d.1866) and Cherstin Ersdotter (b. 1804 - d. unknown).

Lars and Stina Mattson are buried Birch Lake (aka Crow Free River Church) Cemetery.

Not sure if these are the same folks you are tracking...let me know.

Help Please with Probate Records for Hiram Brooks

I would like to obtain copies of Probate and Land Records for Hiram Brooks who died 20 August 1879 in Cokato. Hiram and his wife Carolina moved to the area from Wabasha County sometime around 1860. I believe the property that Hiram owned was located by a lake that was eventually called Brooks Lake.

I appreciate any assistance anyone might be able to provide. Thanks

Cokato Family - Ostergotland, Sweden

I am posting two pictures of my grandparents (Ed & Fina Frykstrom) with some of their children, taken abt 1901.

Also, I am posting a picture of my grandmother before her marriage. Kristina Josefina Abrahamson.

These two pictures helped prove a link to a sibling of my grandmother as the other family (descendants of Johan Edvard Abrahamson, born 1848) had the exact same pictures.

The third picture is of my great grandmother, Inga Lisa Jacobsdotter, born 1826. She was a widow when she came over, husband was Kristian Johan Abrahamson

There were two brothers and four sisters, plus their mother that immigrated from Motal, Ostergotland, Sweden.

We still want to find the rest of the siblings.

Fredrika Carolina Abrahamson, born 1855.

She married Andrew Allstrom and had son, Henry in the 1880 census of Minneapolis which also included her mother, Inga Lisa and her her siblings noted below.

Klara Elizabet Abrahamson, born, 1857

Gustaf Adolph Abrahamson, born 1863. He may have gone to the State of Washington.

Kristina Josefina Abrahamson, born 1866 ...
Married Edvard Frykstrom, 1888

Anna Susanna Abrahamson, born 1870

Most of thee folks preferred to use their middle names.

I have several pictures of young women which I suspect by be the sisters. I will post them later.

If you recognize these pictures please let me know.

Thank you,
Marilyn Powers
