Trying to connect scattered Senkel's into one family. I think that a Carl and Dorothea Fredericke Ton(m)nitz Senkel had Caroline Charlotte, Johann Paul, Ludwig Herman, Heinrich Wilhelm, Wilhelm Julius, Wilhelmine Johanne, Carl, Philippine Freiderike Elsie and Ferdinand Albert Jacob. Some imm. to NY 1870 and some to PA 1869 and settled in Wright Co. Found Wilhelmine m. to Gustaf(ve) Rettke and had Henry, Emil, Bertha, Ernest, Aurora, Minnie, Matilda, Paulin and Herman. Found Carl m. Henrietta, chn. William, Minnie, Henry, Charles, Lena, Harriet, John, Laura, Albert and Agnes. Philippine m. Johann Engel in NY, Ferdinand m. Marie in NY and had 10 chn., Heinrich m. Henrietta in NY and had 7 chn. Rest unknown at this point.

Not sure how we are connected, but feel we are. I'm researching Tomnitz family that went from WI-IA-MN and ended up in Wright County, MN, also. Mine starts with a Carl Tomnitz and wife Minnie Sabien. See any connections?

Yes Kathy, there is a connection. Depending on the date of birth you have, your Carl is either the brother or nephew of my Dorothea Friederike who married Carl Senkel. I was going to email you but wasn't sure of the address. Please email me and I can give you more details. barbe@optonline.net

I am researching the Tomnitz family (Newburg, Mitchell Co, IA to Franklin, Wright Co., Minnesota to CA) and would like to share information with you. On the 1900 census, the brothers and sister lived together (Otto, Mattie, William, Emil). William was my great-uncle. I have many photos to share if this is indeed the same family in which you are interested. Please e-mail me direct at sheridan@interx.net. Thank you.

My Grandmother, Mathilda Wilhelmina Ernestina Senkel, was born on a farm just west of Rockford in Wright County MN. The 1880 census lists her parents as Chas. (1843, anglecized Carl) and Henrietta Senkel (1850, maiden name - Wandersee). The four older children were also listed: William (1872), Minnie (1875), Henry (1877) and Charles (1879). My Grandmother was born about 1883 and also had younger siblings: Heddie, Caroline, Laura and Jack. She married Nathaniel Patten.

I am a descendant of the Tomnitz's who immigrated from Prommern and eventually ended up in Franklin Minn.Carl &
Minnie were my paternal grandmother's parents. I have not
been able to obtain info re: Carl and Minnie's parents.
There is a web site listing a lot of census etc. info about early Franklin. I don't have the address but if you google
Franklin it will come up
