looking for the obit of Edna Becher, d. 5/9/1991 in East Longmeadow. Your assistance is appreciated.

I checked the Springfield Republican by name,last name, date went back 1 week and forward with no results. Sorry could there have been a mistake?

The lack of an online 1991 obit doesn't mean you are wrong necessarily -- there are a lot of gaps in what is available online at that time.

Just a point of interest. If you have a library card from a city in Mass. You can search the Springfield library website which has the newspapers on line from the area. I have mine from Westfield. I did not mean to imply there was a mistake I just asked there could be one. Is there another paper it might be in

thanks for the info, have a cousin in Boston but the library says "Western Mass" library card. Was there a newspaper in Longmeadow at that time? Her grandson died in Lowell, I don't know if that would be where her obit might be. I do believe she was married to a Dr. George E. Becher who died in 7/13/1985. I believe this was her 2nd marriage, her first to a Warth. I am actually trying to find out if this is true and if I can somehow find out her maiden name. Again, thanks to all for the help!!!

Mass. death index has Edna E. Becher d. E.Longmeadow May 9,1991 b.New Jersey August 9, 1901 which makes her 90 yrs.

You could request a death certificate which will give you some info. It is strange there is no obit avaiable.

Got the death certificate in record time ( I am used to dealing w/ NYC) and sure enough it is the right woman!!!! Her maiden name was Bretz, so I am off to research a new part of the family. Thanks for everyones help and input, still can't believe they didn't give an obit, oh well. Thanks again to all!
