Classification: Query
Surnames: Fannin, Ferguson, Workman, Honeycutt
Eunoka’s husband, Leonard Fannin, Jr., was son of Leonard and Maudie (Smith) Fannin. Leonard, Senior, was son of John A. and Mary Alice (Honeycutt) Fannin. John A. Fannin was son of Silas and Polly (Ferguson) Fannin. I have never found any record or anyone who knows who the father of Silas was. According to census information, Silas was born about 1822 in Lawrence County, Kentucky. He settled in Butler District, Wayne County, WV, about 1844 where he raised his family. He was still living in Wayne County in 1887. I have never found a record of his time or place of death. John A. Fannin was a brother to my great-grandmother, Rebecca.
Who can tell me about Rebecca Fannin, born in Wayne County, (W) Virginia in 1850, daughter of Silas and Mary (“Polly”) (Ferguson) Fannin? I would very much like to hear from a descendant of her second marriage. She was my great-grandmother (my mother’s grandmother) who married 1st my great-grandfather, Reece Workman, and second unknown. Our family lost all track of her when she “remarried and moved away.”
Reece Workman married Rebecca Fannin (Fannon) in 1868 – her first marriage. Reece and Rebecca had my grandfather in 1870, and a daughter. Reece blamed Rebecca for the death of the little girl, then took my grandfather and left her. I found an 1877 divorce decree on record by Rebecca. When my grandfather tried to find a trace of his mother in the 1920’s, he was told that she remarried and moved away, but they didn’t remember who she married or where they moved.
If Rebecca had any descendants of her second marriage, I’d like to know and maybe hear from one of them.
