Jeremy, I hope you have found some answers by now. Looks like we are on the same merry-go-round. My mother was a Morris and I have her grandmothers (Matilda Moss Morris)photo album. I have been searching the Lewis M. (Morris) Fry family and in my search last night I found his parents to be Jesse Fry and Milly Crews. Jesse's parents were Johann Heinrich Frey and ELIZABETH Morris/Moser. In the will of Jesse Elizabeth was mentioned as the daughter of Hammond Morris, widow Moser 1761-1840 Tn. I wish I could tell you where that web site was - can't - lost it. Linda

Hi Everyone,

My Name is Wendy Ramirez and I am one of the Co-Administrators for the Morris Family DNA project.

Many Morris Families came into Owsley Kentucky very Early including some of the Morris lines I am related to, Morris is a fairly common Surname and we are in the Process of trying to Identify the many different Morris lines related to each other through DNA. Many of these Families came into Kentucky from Virginia and North Carolina. We have been testing many of these Virginia and North Carolina lines.

If you are a Male Morris and would like to participate and hopefully identify which Morris Family line you are descended from DNA testing is a wonderful Tool. Women can participate by asking a Male member of the Family to test for their line, this can be a father, brother, uncle, cousin etc..

Right now FTDNA (Family Tree DNA)is running a 1/2 price sale on a combined Y-DNA (Paternal DNA Test) and a MTDNA (Maternal DNA Test) we would love to have you participate but the sale only runs thru Wednesday 6-24-09

If you are interested or would like additional information Please feel free to send an e-mail to me at:

wendyramirez2608@yahoo.com or morrisdna@att.net

Thank You

Wendy Ramirez

Hi Fred,

We are not 100% sure where William was born, the 2 best candidates are Virginia and North Carolina.

On the 1880 Census one of his children states he was born in Virginia and another states North Carolina?

The 1st records for him are in Kentucky where he moved between 1790-1800.

Another thing we are not 100% sure on is the name of his wife, Esther Barrett is a possibility.

Through DNA testing this line is linked with 5 others:

John Morris b. 1755 in Orange County, Virginia
George Morris b. 1760 in Virginia or North Carolina
John Morris b. 1762 in King & Queen County Virginia
William B. Morris b. 1806 in Halifax Virginia
Solomon Morris b. 1785 Virginia

What can you tell me about your Haton and Thomas? Where are they from? Has anyone in this line taken a DNA test?

Thanks for the help

Wendy

To the best of my knowledge I'm not releatde to your Morris line at least back to the mid 17oo's, My line starts with Hatton Morris son of Thomas born in the early 1700. However I'd be glad to share what I have if you are interested.

Fred Morris

Michelle Cole posts a LOT of obits for people who were born in KY, but lived and passed away in the SW Ohio area.
About this Mason family, do you have specific questions you have unanswered? According to the 1930 census the elder John Mason was a minister. Joycie's maiden name was Baker. You may already know this though.

Hello,
This has nothing to do with this thread but you are the closest one I can find to what I'm looking for. There is an obituary on here with the author listed as Michelle Cole. The obituary is for John Mason. He is the son of John and Joycie Mason(my great grandparents). It was posted in 1999 the year he died so it's been some time , but I was just wondering if you knew Michelle Cole. There is also a picture of John and Joycie with their three kids,Mildred(my grandmother),John, and Rob.Any information you could give me about either of these would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, Jackson, I assumed you were speaking of Lewis Cole b. 1846 d. 1921 as he and his father James served together during the Civil War.
