1860 census shows him as a grocery keeper, 1880 census shows him as a hotel keeper. 1880 census also shows BERRY BUFORD 78years old black male servant living with the family. LEWIS COLE was murdered by PRICE MOORE in Indian Creek 1904.

To the best of my knowledge this Lewis Cole was the brother of James Cole b. 1816 in NC. James married Mary Hammonds of Knox County, KY and migrated to Lee County, KY. I am very interested in any information you have regarding either Lewis Cole or James Cole families.

Your James Cole, b. 1846 md to Margaret Major.....
I have him md. to Malinda Combs, d/o of Samuel Combs and Nancy Cornett. Do you have any proof on his marriage to Margaret? (I have not been able to locate a marriage date to Malinda ) Their first child was born 1868.

I give unto my oldest son James COLE 200 acres of land joining the land whereon I now live, above the creek. I give unto my youngest son Lewis COLE the farm whereon I now live, to take possession when of age, or rented out for his use, provided my wife should marry or leave the place. Thanks Carrie. James and Malinda also had a son John G., md to Emma Begley (sister to Ella). Samuel and Mary had two other children besides Gracie. Lewis F. b. 1902 and William Everett, b. 1906.

Does anyone know WHY Price Moore killed Lewis?

Also, Henry Cole and Ella Begley had a daughter, Bertie Cole that md. Estil Moore. He was struck by lightening and died in Ohio, though buried in Booneville. Haven't found which Moore father is Estil's.....

Do you know anything about the Cemetery in Booneville that the Coles are in? Like maybe directions? I'm heading there this weekend, and know nothing about that area.

my great great grandpa was James Cole son of Lewis Cole James Cole married Malinda Combs. Malinda was the daughter of Samuel and Nancy Cornett. Malinda moved in with her son Samuel after Samuel's wfe Mary died in 1909 to help raise his 2 sons, my grandpa Everett and his brother Lewis. Would like to hear from any Lewis Cole descendants

Hi its is great to finally find someone related to Lewis Cole and not 13 generations back. Lewis Cole was my gggrandpa I know only the stories my grandma told me of him which is not a lot due to her parents passing away when she was very young. I would love to compare some information on Lewis and find out anything else about him and the family.
