History of Marion Co., MO has biography of John Minor which states he was son of Thomas Minor and Margaret Garrison of VA. John was born 9 Apr 1818 in Jessamine Co. KY and moved to MO on 27 Oct 1835 with his parents. His father died there 23 Jul 1849 and John purchased interests of other heirs in the family farm. Some years ago, a genealogy researcher in Jessamine Co. KY in a letter to my Mother stated she believed this Thomas was the son of Owen Minor of Spotsylvania Co., VA and had some information which indicated this. Owen was the son of Thomas Minor and Alice Owen of that county. This Thomas Minor does not seem to be connected with my Minor/Miner ancestry who lived in Jessamine Co. My Thomas Miner came there about 1785 and died there about 1801. Another Thomas Miner died there about 18ll who seemed to be the son of the first Thomas. My ancester was John Miner who was apparently a son of the first Thomas and they moved there from PA. I would be most interested in knowing if there was a connection between all of these Thomas Minor families.
