I'm also a descendant of Robert Rash and Seletha Bryant. The 1860 census shows William Watson Rash living with Robert and Seletha and there is also a William Watson, aged 2, living with them. I'm interested in learning the importance of the Watson name. My line comes down thru Robert's daughter Nancy who married Oliver Lundin. They had a son, Samuel Watson Lundin, my great grandfather. Do you know how the Watson name came into the family?
Thanks,
Marty

Been able to come up with the Church records for about 1875 - 1917. Death was from 1860. The records are on microfilm at Concordia Historical Archives. No one knows what happened to the records after that point though yet. Through the records was able to finially find my Great Great Great Grandmothers (Justina Brandenburg Jahn). Still working to confirm if shes buried in cemetery or another though. Hope to work that out soon.

Hello, My name is Larry Lundin. Among Robert Rash's children was a daughter named Nancy. In 1859, Nancy Rash married Oliver Lundin in Keokuk Co., Iowa and they had 4 children including a son named Oscar. Oscar was my grandfather, his son Ralph was my father. Oliver and Nancy had a blacksmith business in Richland which was a trade he learned in Sweden before coming to America. I wish I had gotten involved in geneology earlier and would have certainly enjoyed making the trip to Iowa for your reunion a few years ago. I would love to learn more about them.

Ioka was located on section 28, (Jackson Twp., Keokuk County) about one mile from the Jefferson county line. It was at one time in the center of the business of that township, and is on the surveyed route of the Muscatine & Missouri Railroad. The Cemeteries in Jackson Twp. are: Altman in Sec. 36; Ollie (DeArmand) in Sec. 22; Rock Creek in Sec. 28; Vanorsdall in Sec. 5. Also Nancy could be buried in Jefferson County as Ioka is within a mile of Jefferson County.
The iowawpagraves.org site lists a Thomas Witt Sutherland, born 1863, died June 15, 1921. Buried at McCleary Cemetery, Locust Grove Twp. Sec. 36, Jefferson County, Iowa. Shows him as the son of John W. and Amanda, husband of Mary and his children as Eunice M. Hayden and Ralph Bruce.

My father, Leonard A. Batterson, Sr. was born in Keokuk, Iowa on June 25 1920 (deceased Feb. 22, 1973) to Lee Roy Batterson and Esther Givens. I believe Lee Roy's father was Leonard Batterson who had a brother named Charles...I have his gold pocket watch with his name inscribed under the back cover as "Chas. Batterson" with the year, "1899."

My father married Sue Evans Woods (born in St. Louis, Missouri Dec. 21, 1922) on Nov. 9, 1943 and they had eight children (four boys and four girls) between 1944 and 1958. I am the youngest. My siblings are as follows:

Leonard Arther Batterson, Jr. born July 31, 1944
Barbara Louise Batterson (Henderson) born Feb. 15, 1947
William Woods Batterson born April 1, 1949.
Mary Melanie Batterson (Duffy) born Feb. 7, 1952
Sue Evans Batterson born July 31, 1953
Brian Thomas Batterson born Dec. 19, 1955
Patricia Beth Batterson born Dec. 19, 1955
Robert Alexander Batterson born May 2, 1958

Hope this helps and feel free to write back.

Robert Batterson
St. Louis, Missouri
robertbatterson@gmail.com

Hi: I am looking at a 1880 iowa census which I think shows a relative of mine by the name of Elizabeth Goodnow. Her parents were Burgess and Rozeanna goodnow. She originally was married to Alexander Mcgrew in Keokuk County Iowa on March 12, 1863. I find no other record for them until I found Elizabeth in this census which also shows 2 step daughters by the name of mcgrew. Also, it show Burgess and Roseanna living in the house with them at this time. I don't know if this will get to you, but if it does I have alot of information on the goodnow line if interested. Let me know.

Scott

Hi Nancy:
Anyone should be able to get a copy of her death certificate. I am not sure as to when she died but I do know she lived in Huntington, Indiana. I would think that if you went to your local History Center(Church of Latter Day Saints) you could order the reel that her death is on. This Henry Voiers is the one that lived in Pendleton County Kentucky and went to Indiana during the civil war. His son was drafted and served with the north. In 1870 this family is listed back in Pendleton County Kentucky. There is a Henry Voiers from West Virginia also, and is related.

Is anyone sure that Robert Voiers was married only twice? Does anyone have the copy of the marriage bond between mary or margaret martin? He may have had a third wife that I've never heard about who died before 1870. Members of his family are buried in Shockley Cemetery in Clear Creek, Iowa, If I come across Arrena Black, I'll let you know.
