I am trying to find out if there is a family connection to this Thomas Wilson. Do you know if he was married or had children?

I was reading your email about Thomas Wilson & Littleton Hall. I am interested in Thomas Wilson. You mentioned his death. Do you have any specifics on this? Do you knoe if he ever married? I am trying to find the family of Ora Deloss Wilson who is documented as being born in Newport and names his father as Thomas Wilson. Any help would be appreciated.

I am looking for information on Littleton Hall b 1845 in Vigo Co IN. It might be in the Vermillion censuses. His son is Adam Henry Hall born 1869 to Littleton and I have a susan Colings but I could be mistaken. Adam's son is Jessee Lee Littleton Hall. He has two daughters and 4 sons. My deceased grandmother is his daughter Dorothy. Her daughter is my mother Patty and I am Jim Burkhart(adopted to Jim Stephens)
Any information I could get would be helpful. I would like to trace that line up further. Thank you in advance. Sincerely Jim Burkhart Sephens

Hello, I think I am a distant cousin. I am a Hall dexcendant through Adam Henry's line. His son is Jessee Lee Littleton and his daughter is Dorothy Marie Hall, Mildner, Westenhaver, whose daughter is Patty jean Mildner, Burkhart, First, I am Jim Burkhart adopted Jim Stephens. I have the name of Susan Colings as Littletons wife and am very interested in finding out more about him and his many marriages which I knew nothing about. Her being previously married settles the Wilson/Colings difference. Id love to be ableto go back further on that line and possible find out if I have more family in the area.
Sincerely Jim Burkhart Stephens

Hello Jim,

It's always great to know of a new cousin.

Littleton Hall was born about 1823 in Licking Co, Ohio. His parents were William Veach Hall and Phoebe Taylor. About 1837 his father died, his mother remarried and he went to live on the farm of a neighbor named Elisha Morris.
I don't know when he moved from Ohio but he married Almira Wheelock June 2, 1844 in Danville, Vermillion, IL.
He married Susan Collins Wilson 12/28/1856 in Coles Co., IL. Her first husband was William Wilson.
Littleton married Elizabeth P Canaday Stall 6/08/1887 in Terre Haute, Vigo, IN.
Both Susan and Littleton had children from their first marriages but only Susan had children when they married and only two out of five of them. I don't know what happened to William and Almira and all those children but there was a terrible epidemic in that area (I can't remember what kind, maybe smallpox? and it was around 1854 or 1855?), anyway I suspect that Littleton and Susan's first families were victims of the epidemic but have absolutely nothing to back it up. It's only a guess.
I don't know when or where Littleton and Susan died, do you? The last I can find Littleton is in a City Directory listed as a laborer in Edwards (west Terre Haute)in 1890.

I have that Adam Hall married Susanna Harpold. She would be your grandmother?

And then Jesse Littleton Hall's wife was Vina Whitehead? Is that right? I'd love to know more about all of Adam's family. He was the brother of my grandma Sarah K Hall who married William Henry Vestal.

I have a lot more information about Littleton's parents and siblings and I think I know Susan's family, her father's name may have been Adam and I think she had a brother or uncle Watson Collins. You are welcome to anything I have, just let me know what you want.

Hey Joyce, nice to meet you too. Where did you get information on Littleton's parents? I can get nowhere. The Ohio birthplace was new to me as well. I appreciate any information on Littleton and Adam Henry I can get. Adam is my gg grandfather. Jessee Lee Littleton was my g grandfather who I never knew. he married my g grandmother 2/24/1923 in Paris IL. I did know his wife who is Mary Alberta Showwalter. She was his widow and died in 1995. Was he married before her to this Vina Whitehead? He had four sons, Randy, Carl, Raymond, and one other and two daughters, Eva Faye Hall Unversaw M Dick and my grandmother was Dorothy Marie Hall born 1928, Mildner Married George Albert II. then divorced, Westenhaver married Clyde

Hi Sue,

My father called your grandma "Aunt Mattie". I have a picture of her with my grandma (Mary Marie Vestal) and their sister Stella Elizabeth Vestal. It was taken in a studio when they were young women but you can already see the character in their faces, and they have hands that you can see worked hard. They called Stella "Doll". My father is 84 years old and remembers them both. There was another sister named Nellie but I don't have a picture of her.

I have a lot of information on Littleton and yet it seems like very little but you are welcome to everything I have. I know where he was born, (Licking Co., OH abt 1823)and I know he died after 1890 in Illinois or Indiana.

Littleton had three wives, Almira Wheelock (Wheellock?) m. 1844, Susan Collins m. 1856, Elizabeth Canaday m. 1887. Our grandmother was Susan Collins.

Littleton's parents were William Veach Hall and Phoebe Taylor. William died when Littleton was probably in his early teens and his mother remarried rather soon, pretty much abandoning him and his siblings. He went to live on a nearby farm with a couple name Morris (Elisha). I don't know what the relationship was - maybe he was just a hired hand there.

At any rate he must not have stayed long because he married Almira in Danville, IL in 1844.

Let me know how I can help. Which one of Aunt Mattie's children are you descended from? Do you have any pictures? I'll be happy to email you the pictures I have.

I just reread this and see that you didn't ask about Littleton You asked about his daughter Sarah.

OK, what do you want to know and I'll see if I can tell you.

Hi Joyce, Thanks so much for your response. I am very interested in both Sarah and Littleton. I have a story about her that says that she was Indian, was written by one of my uncles (by marriage) so don't know. My father was George Dunkley. He died about 2 years ago. Don't think that there are very many of his siblings left. Only about 4 that I can think of. I was raised in Calif and the rest of his family pretty much stayed in Indiana. I now live in Idaho, have five sisters spattered all over the place. Would love to have your e:mail address and correspond with you. Mine is suemills@cableone.net. Again thanks for the response. Sue

Dear Joyce could you contact my E Mail at stephensjt@juno.com. I'd like to know more about my ggg grandfathers family and you have a lot of information about them. Anything would be appreciated. Thanks a lot Jim Burkhart/Stephens

Dear Neil, According to the records I have from my grandmother the family goes accordingly. 1.
Jimmy Franklin Burkhart JR B 9/06/1966 M 9/04/1993 NO children.
2. My mother Patti Jean Mildner b 5/18/1951 m Jim Burkhart SR 08/1966 divirced in 1969 remarried Chester First 1970 she had two children from this marriage. Anelique Antoinette First and Samuel Antonio First. More info about them is available if u like but back to the line.
3. Her mother is Dorothy Marie Hallb 6/8/1928 m 10/20/1946 to Albert George Mildner( had 4 5 children) div m Clyde Westenhaver(no children) died 10/11/2004.
4. Her Father is Jessee Lee Littleton Hall. Different records say he was born in different years. but according to the census he was born in 1897.July 02/1897. He married Mary Alberta Showwalter in 1928 in Terre Haute IN. They had 6 children I believe. I have her funeral notice.
5. His Father is Adam Henry Hall born 1869. However there is someconfusion about his birthdate. The 1860 census says there was an Adam born in 1856. in IL. Regardless of his birth date or if it was the right Adam, We'll need to check the 1870 census forthat information. According to the 1910 census he was born in 1867. in the 1830 census he was born in 1868. so I'll go for 1867. He married Susanna Harpold 1873 d 5/20/1851 in Vigo CY IN, on 1/10/1891 in Vigo CY IN Vigo CY capitol is Terre Haute. He died in 1940 in Vigo CY IN
6. His Father is Littleton Hall. The 1860 census has him at 34 meaning he would have been born in 1825-1826. The 1880 census says he is 57 which would have him born around 1823.He married three times. the second is my descent. She was Susan Collins-Wilson-Hall. They married 12/28/1856. How many children they had I will need to get from the 1870 and 1880 census. I received an E mail from a Joyce Shannon Zandri that tells me his parents were William Veach Hallwho died in 1837 and Phoebe Taylor. That is where I am at for that family and I d like to go further and also come forward.
