I descend from William M.C. and Esther Roberts and I'm looking to see if I can find any male descendants from this line for a DNA test to establish which Roberts line we descend from. Do you have any information that might help. My GG Grandfather was Thomas Roberts. This family was living in the Harrison/Martinsburg area.

The Harrison County, Indiana Clerk's office charges $1.00 per marriage record copy (uncertified) if copied at the courthouse. They may charge more if requested by mail.

Certified copies of records cost much more.

Not that I know of-- Isaac Hemp is the son of Jacob Hemp who is the son of Frederick Hemp, I believe. They came from Indiana. If I see the manes you mentioned, I will certainly let you know.

WOW! I made a posting at three AM and received a reply at seven AM! I had not pursued this lineage since about 1994. I restarted again about a month ago. My problem was with Paul Byerly. I was given that he was born in Kentucky in 1854.
We agree almost exactly, with just a few differences. I find it amazing that you followed the line down to my wife’s Mother! Did you follow the David Mitchell line? His father, Isaac, was in the Revolutionary War.

There is a Passenger and Immigration Lists Index for a Michael Byerly and I take this to be the Michael Byerly father of Paul. Of all the Michaels in this area this is the only Michael born in Europe.
Several other genealogies have the following with no references:
Michael Byerly. Birth: 1815 Of, , Harrison, Indiana. Death: 08 DEC 1878.
Spouse: Maria Wohl, Marriage: 15 APR 1841. Floyd, Indiana.
PAUL Byerly Birth: 1853 Of, Bradford, Harrison, Indiana.
Parents: Michael Byerly. Maria Wohl.
As the 1850 Census mentions Michael’s wife has the name Mary (sometimes Mariah) I assume that this is Michael’s first wife. She must have been Paul’s mother as Michael married Margaret in 1855.
I could not find anything about Paul’s niece, Alice Byerly.

As to A. J. Hodgman: I have a copy of Jane Hodgman’s entitlement to a pension for A. J. Hodgman. He was a 2nd class Fireman (and Landsman) on three ships for about seven months.

My grandfather is Maude Tibbett brother. They have sister named Irene Tregarden. Maude& Curtiss lived in Indpls&enzaafter curtiss passed Maude lived in Speedway.I remember some of the children's names. Have been in thier home& played with them at my Grandfather house. I might be of some help to you. Maude helped dress my Grandmother&Aunt on my dads side when they passed away from the influenza.

Nancy Hunter married UNK Dension abt JAN 1853 IN and had a son John Denison, John married and had children and in 1900 IN, Cass, Noble Twp., Nancy Shadd age 64, mother in law with them, Heritage Quest T623, 362, 32

Nancy Hunter married John Wratton 11 Sep 1864 in Daviess Co., IN recorded in marriage record
#3258, bk 2 page 367, Levi Johnson officiating, son John
Wratton born 1866 from this union.

Moses Chadd married a Nancy Hunter on 3 FEB 1835 Daviess IN, then an Elizabeth Harbison on 15 SEP 1842 Dubois,IN then remarried Nancy in about 1851 I believe. They had at least one child who is buried in Daviess IN and a Nancy Chadd claimed his estate.

Concerning Nancy Hunter that married Moses Chadd: I have always assumed that Nancy Hunter is the widow of David Hunter. Nancy (Teverbaugh) Hunter, born 1812 in Knox Co., IN; married David Hunter 5 July 1832 in Daviess Co., IN. David Hunter died April 1833. So the Nancy Hunter, the widow of David Hunter is the only Nancy Hunter I have found in Daviess Co., in that time frame that a Nancy Hunter married Moses Chadd in 1835.

This is only an assumption. I was in contact several years ago with a person researching the Teverbaugh surname. I did not research further as David Hunter and Nancy (Teverbaugh) Hunter had no children. My research is the Hunter surname.

My name is Scott Clark My Grandfather Amos Clark married an Anna Irene Seig, who was the daughter of a Mary A. Henriott, born in 1958 in Indiana and who was the daughter of Felician Henriott. He was born in France in 1832 and migrated to the US in 1843 with his family. He married an Ortani Mathey? In Frenchtown Indiana. He later served in the union army Co. D 53rg Indiana Infantry. His first wife died ( ? ) and he later remarried to Nancy R or C. Is there a connection? If so, could you explain.

I know his children were born in the 1850's and 60's. Also his wife Mary was born around 1829 in France according to the 1880 U.S. Census, and Aaron was already died in that year.

Looking for copies or a transcription of the family records from the Nicholas Peter Bible. These records are mentioned on DAR applications starting in the 1950s.

The Rev Nicholas Peter lived from 1820 to 1900 in Harrison County. He was the son of Polly Peter and her 1st husband Charles Peter.

Any help would be greatly appreciated in locating these records.

Having trouble with e-mail, but will try again at a later date. I have birth & death date for George W. Lahue, but only a birthdate for Rebecca. I have most of the children's birth years from a census, but little else on them.

Mamie's parents George W & Rebecca (McClure) Lahue lived in Jennings Township, Crawford County, Indiana. They are both buried in Scott Cemetery. I have more on this family - please contact me directly via email.

Supposedly died of tuberculosis March 24, 1911, in Terre Haute, IN. She and her family lived in Leavenworth, Indiana, so I think she is probably buried there-maybe at Boley-Lahue Cemetery???

Hi, not sure if any relation or not. My grandmother was Laura Smith Harrison. She had a brother, Hershel and sister, Jessie (who was married to a guy named Bill). They were orphaned as children and separated but later got together. This would've been just before WW I. My grandma married Arthur Harrison and had four kids in Indiana during the 30s and 40s but died out here in California, as did Grandpa Harrison (Buena Park, CA). I think her brother ended up in Florida and Jessie and Bill stayed in Indiana, possibly Valparaiso, but not sure. I've just started my tree so maybe I'll have more details later on. I do know my Grandma's mom's family was German, need to ask some relatives the name.

I have ancestors who were reportedly married at King's Cave. I am not sure if the source refers to the actual cave itself or a town/community near the cave. In any event, I want to find the exact location of the cave. I know that it is "about 4 miles east of Corydon on the bluff just to the south of a rest park on U.S. Highway 460." US Hwy 460 is now called Indiana S.R. 62. I have determined that the cave is located within or below the red-circled area on this map:

Does anyone know the name of the cul-de-sac road and/or the mobile home park that is visible within the red-circled area? Or, can anyone tell me exactly where the cave is and whether it is accessible?
