Hi, Ancestor has been real tricky - his name is Barton Hettich, also spelled Hettick, Hettig - he married Nancy Neal (also Neel or Neil) in 1859, resided in Williamson - where they had 5 children - Nancy's father was Harrison Neal, who worked as a Blacksmith - They were from Tennessee, and Barton was from Germany...It has been frustrating because Barton has been very elusive to track - we can't even find when he came into the US - so any information on the family while they lived in Williamson would be wonderful!Thanks

Barton and Nancy are my g-g-grandparents. Barton was born around 1832 in Baden Germany and came to the USA when he was 14. Without my records in front of me, I believe I found him on the 1850 IL census. Nancy is his second wife. He came to TX and settled near Fort Worth (south west of there). I have been in touch with some descendents on his son and one told me that Barton changed his name when he came to the US. The relative did not give me any info on how he knew this or what records he had found that proved this. I'd love to visit with you on what information you have and how you are related to him.
