THIS IS GREAT! Just wanted anyone to know that they can go to this website and check out history and names. It is called; 'History of the Early Settlers of Sangamon County, Illinois' "Centennial Record" 1876 by John Carroll Powers.

It has MANY families listed. IT IS VERY LONG...SO HAVE PATIENCE. If you know the Male Surnames, that is how the familes are listed and in alphabetical order. Read the beginning and it tells how Powers recieved all the family information. I found several of my 'family'. You can copy pages.

Some families listed: where they came from, places, dates, children, spouses, children's spouses, death and dates, some causes of death, etc. VERY GOOD!
ENJOY! Please let as many people know about this info that would have ancestors that lived in Sangamon County in 1876 or before.

If you have a problem with this link, go to www.archive.org and just type in this book. You will need to download it. I used the PDF, you will see that on the left of the screen.

I found this a great resource, also. Only one problem, you need to double check the authors facts, More than one had the last name wrong. ect. Sherman(Sheneman). But at least it is a place to Start...
