gelowe1940:
Thank you for information concerning lack of indexes for the Rutland cemeteries. I am trying to find the burial place of infant George Hank, born to Conrad and Elizabeth Schubert Hank on 17 Dec 1882 and died on 31 May 1883. I have a record of the family in the 1880 Osage Township census and I believe they lived around sections 31-34. I walked the Catholic cemetery (west across I-39) in late October but did not find a stone. It may have been one of the older ones which was unreadable. Is there any record that you know of a Catholic church which they might have attended in Rutland at the time and where those church records might be kept. I am hoping that Church might have a record of his burial or birth. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, your response makes it perfectly clear that there were two cemeteries there in 1906. I ordinarily try not to make a post saying nothing more than "thank you" as people running searches here, or who have posts automatically sent to them, probably don't want to read a post that says only that.

I will try to find an index of who is buried in each of the two cemeteries in hope of finding my ancestor's grave. If anyone knows of the existence of indexes for these cemeteries, I'd appreciate learning where they are located.

Thanks for your help!

My ancestor died and was buried at Seneca, Illinois in 1906. Her death certificate simply states that she was buried at Seneca. I see two cemeteries at Seneca: Mount Hope and Mount Calvary. Did both of these cemeteries exist in 1906? The fact that her death certificate does not name the cemetery implies to me that there was only one cemetery in 1906. Her name was Minnie Howard. She could be buried as Minnie Johnson.

Input would be most appreciated. Thank you!

I suggested back on 20 Dec 2008 you might check for probate/estate and guardianship records(Livingston and LaSalle) for Michael Sullivan,
were you able to do that?
Did you locate an obit for Bridget BRAZZIL SULLIVAN CAFFERY?
Since Stephen is an uncommon irish given name, might be better to search for in SULLIVAN families than Michael.
1880 Pike township,Livingston Co
SULLIVAN
James,51 farmer,Ire
Ellen(35),wife,Ire
Joseph,22,IL
John,19,IL
STEPHEN,16,IL
Patrick,14,IL
Lawrence,8,IL
Alice,6,IL
Hope these help
Kathy

I don't know enough to be specific. All I know is that my gg grandfather, Michael Sullivan married in 1865 to Bridget Brazzil in LaSalle co. Stephen was born 1866 and Michael born 1868. In 1870 Bridget is shown a widow and only one son Michael and living in Livingston co with her brother. The marriage records from St Patricks in 1865 say my gg grandfathers parents were Stephen Sullivan and Catherine Shea. I was hoping to connect with possibly another Sullivan family that was in Lasalle. LaSalle county has no death records for that time.

Sullivan is a very common irish name. You will have to be more specific for anyone to help.
There are at least
45 seperate Sullivan listings in 1860 census LaSalle
and 28 separate listings in 1870.
Do you have given names and/or locations within LaSalle Co?
Kathy

So, just to make sure I have this right, the Lewis Fogler (son of John Fogler) who married Alice Lowman is not the same as was married to Julia O'Neil? I just want to make sure as I know I am descended form the Fogler-Lowman line and if he was married previously I really want to track that line too.
