Classification: Query
Surnames: DECIUS/HEISTAND/ALESHIRE
To All:
I am "trying" to research my family that lived in Cumberland Co., IL. I believe that they came to Cumberland Co., about 1835/36 as they are found on the 1840 Coles Co., IL census record. My problem is that because of the courthouse that burned, I am not having any luck finding any records unless they happened to end up in a Federal or Coles Co., Repository. Does anyane have any idea on how I can find some more information on the family???

The family is:
Abraham Decius/Decious & wife Catherine Aleshire Decius.
In the 1840 Census the are in Coles Co., OH
1840 Federal Census, Coles Co., OH
Abram Deines (Abraham Decius) Handwritten census is hard to read. <ggg>

Males: 2 age 10 - 15 b. 1825 to 1830 Simon H. and Hiram B.
2 age 20 - 30 b. 1810 to 1820 names unknown (believe one to be his nephew Daniel and the other is the older son who marries a Ann? and is dead by 1850.

Females: 1 - 10 to 15 b. 1825-1830 Gertie/Greta

1 20 to 30 b. 1810 - 1820 Lydia
1 50 to 60 b. 1790 to 1800 Catharine

I believe that Abraham and Catherine died before 1850 and would like to find the cemetery or some record of death for them. I also believe that the older son whose name is unknown married a Ann ?? (name unknown) and that he died prior to 1850. They had a son William.

1850 census Cumberland Co., IL
Sima Decius (Simon) 23 m w Ohio
Ann 33 f w Ohio
William 4 m w IL
It appears that the older brother, husband of Ann has died or is gone and that Simon is living with them.
(In this family, younger brother's lived with older, nepehews with Uncles etc. Anytime someone died, the other family members took them in and raised them) .

Any helps or hint's on how to research this family where the courthouse has burned would be appriciated. If any of you have family that had friendship or family connection to this family and could help me, I would appriciate it.
