My guess is that she is the sister of Gerhard Book, who also died in Damiansville. I found the church records online and was able to put together all the siblings in that family, with birthdates etc. I will have to dig out the file. Haven't looked at it in a while :) I have a few pictures from Germany that you will probably enjoy looking at, too. my email is karin4467@yahoo.com of you want to email me. I can forward you the pictures.

BTW that makes you a cousin to my husband. More in a minue. Let me see if I can find the Book box of research.

According to my data, John Gerhard Wellen was a son of Johann Gerhard Wellen and Gesina Angela Schwendel. Johann Gerhard's parents were Johann Heinrich Wellen and Catharina Kortman. I'm descended from Johann Heinrich Wellen through his second wife. The information I have on your branch all came from a researcher in the Netherlands named Richard Hubert. I don't want to go posting other people's e-mail addresses out on the Internet, but, if you go to http://genforum.com/wellen/ there are a couple posts by him where you can find his e-mail address.

I am trying to piece together my family genealogy. What I have so far:

Anna Helena Book was my ggggrandmother. Born Germany 1852; Died in Damiensville, Clinton, Illinois 1888.

She married John Gerhard Wellen.

They had one child: Anna Marie Wellen who married Charles Frey.

I would like to know more about her. Do you have any mention of her in your history?

Hello,

I'm trying to locate any photos of two trains that collided on the trestle crossing over the Kaskaskia River at Carlyle, IL. The accident occurred on June 20, 1865. The railroad was the Mississippi & Ohio. The west-bound train was carrying the 6th West Virginia Cavalry to St. Louis for service on the Great Plains. Most of the regiment's horses were killed in the collision. A photographer was present the next day and sold photos to several bystanders. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Glenn Longacre
glongacre@hotmail.com

I am looking for information on the old Goshen Road that went from Old Shawneetown to a settlement near Edwardsville built around 1808. The road would have gone through Clinton County from near Centralia to Carlyle to Frogtown and then to St. Morgan. In 1835 (a year before Aviston) a post office (Clifton) was established near Sugar Creek on the Alton and Carlyle stage route. The remains of an old bridge are visible to the south of the Sugar Creek bridge on Lee road. Land along this road is among the earliest purchased in the county. (1815) section 1 Sugar Creek.

If anyone has an old map or the field notes from the original survey or a link to such, please share them here.

vinhuelsmann at gmail .com

No, I had it correct. I have seen this same census info. I keep forgetting to put an update message on here. We found Roy a few weeks ago. He is actually burried in Florida's national Cemetery. The good news is that my mom had two brothers by him that she never knew about and we have spoken to them. Would still like more info on Roy if anyone has any. My mom was born a few years before her brothers so we actually had some info that they didn't. Slowly but surely it is all being pieced together. Thanks for the response. Best of luck to everyone else.

Do you think you could have remembered this incorrectly. I did find this in the U.S.Census
Irvington, Washington county Illinois
Father is George born in Penn age 50
rest of family all born Illinois
mother is Luetta age 39
oldest brother EArl Thompason 22
oldest sister is Pearl age 19
Thelma is 17
roy Lee is only 8months old. the census does not state which one is the mother but he listed as son just like Earl is. After all the mother is only 39 but the girls are old enough to have had a child.
I did check the soc sec death index but of course the name of Roy Thompson is very common.
Thank you for an interesting Illinois query and I am sorry I did not find more info for you.
Hello ,my name is Bette Sears, my GGGrandparents were Mary Clark and George Oiley. Do you have any documented info that John and Rachel were Mary's parents. We have found info about William being their son but nothing on Mary, also do you know if a Susanna was their sibling also. How are you related to William your message does not say? Since we have not verified that William was Mary's sibling we have not done too much research on him. I do have some info on John will and some other info about William being John's son, such as who raised him after John's death. If you can help me with some type of verification about them being siblings I would greatly appreciate it, it does not have to be official just some something that shows proof. I will gladly send any info on William that I have, it will take me a little time to locate all I have. My children moved in with me and to make room I stored most of my genealogy away so the kids could not get into it and loose it. Susan Elizabeth Oiley is my line she is the 2nd child of Mary and George.

Bette

Evidently the cemetery transcription date of death is wrong, too since St. Boniface Burial records show him buried on
3 Mar 1858. This is on the 2nd page right after the January
1858 burials and before the next page which has April and
May 1858.
