Kathy, please contact me. Walter Treadwell was the brother of my Grt Grandmother Mary (Molly) Treadwell Humphreys (widow of Robert E. Humphreys of Thomas Co., Ga., Pavo area) (second husband, Thomas A. Walker of Brooks Co., Ga.) I have photos of Mollie's family. She moved here to Lakeland, Fl. in the early 1920's and died her in 1961. I know her father Wm. C. Treadwell died in 1920 and his wife Malissa/Lizzy died in 1925, but I do not know who she was living with when she died. I am very interested in photos of the Treadwell's and Walker's. Please reply direct to me at jt33584@yahoo.com.

Baldree - King names

Hi...my name is Shirley Ann (Baldree) Weber.
I live in PA (my family roots are in Georgia).
My e-mail is puppermom46@msn.com
My address is 1202 S. Market Street
Mechanicsburg, PA 17055-4727
I started searching for my family roots, as a member of Ancestry. com and am listed under Baldree Family Tree.
My father is James Clifford Baldree 1917-1972 died in Adel, GA.
Grandfather, Charlie Ranson Baldree
07 Mar 1891 - 06 Feb 1956
buried in Pine Grove Cemetery - Berrien County, GA.
He was married to Mary Alice King 26 Feb 1896 - 24 Nov 1934
GGfather, Irwin W. Baldree 1851-1919
GGGfather, Isacc Kethren Baldree 1833-1899
GGGGfather, Isacc K. Baldree 1758 - 1830
I've done fairly well, but have run into roadblocks.
My Grandfather above, was shown in the 1900 USFed Census as Charley Baldree, age 9, and a son of Irwin & Nancy Baldree.
Then shown in 1910 USFed Census as
Charlie Baldree, age 19, there it states "adopted son" of Irwin & Nancy Baldree.
His WW1 Draft Regist. Card shows his full name as
Charlie Ranson Baldree.
I am sooo perplexed!!!!!!
Does this mean Grandfather was adopted and not really a Baldree?
Why wouldn't they have mentioned it in the 1900 Census?
Also, if he really were adopted, I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO FIND HIS REAL PARENTS.
And that makes me sooo sad!
Part of me says, GGfather Irwin raised him from a child thru adulthood, making him as much a Baldree as his "siblings".
I know for those in genealogy, that may seem wrong, but that is how I feel.
Also, since I am a novice at genealogy...I didn't know if I should keep my (Baldree Family Tree) public, since it is a work in progress?
I do know other peoples trees have been helpful to me.
Unfortunately, I see where some errors keep being repeated.
And I feel, by mine being public...perhaps I add to that.
Another thing I've done is use Jr & Sr in my tree, basicly to help me keep all the people with the same name, like Isacc, separate.
Your (Honest) thoughts please, about my littany of questions and concerns.
IF ANYONE HAS INFORMATION ON MY GRANDFATHER CHARLIE RANSON BALDREE or HIS WIFE MARY ALICE KING...please let me know.
I hope to hear from you and thanks for listening.
Shirley Ann (BALDREE) Weber

According to several Ancestry.com member family trees, Lovick M. YOUNG is the son of James YOUNG and Obedience BRIDGES. However, Lovick is not listed with the family in the 1850 Lowndes Co cens. James & Obedience are parents of ?Roxanna; Henry Beckham; Elzy M.; Elizabeth J.; JOEL GREEN (in whose home Catherine BALDREE (w/o Lovick M. YOUNG) is living in the 1870 Berrien Co cens. Thus, we might conclude that Joel J. Young and Lovick M. Young were brothers?

I believe Reuben Futch Noles's wife Marilda is: Elizabeth J. Marilda YOUNG (b 26 May 1860 in Berrien Co, GA) d/o Lovic(Lovett) M. YOUNG who died 19 Oct 1864, Cedar Creek, VA in the CSA. Her mother was Catherine BALDREE, (b 1 June 1836, Tattnall Co, GA) d/o Isaac K. BALDREE & 2nd wife Nancy SAPP. In the 1860 Berrien Co cens Lovie M. YOUNG & Katherine are listed with daughter Elizabeth J. In 1870 Catherine YOUNG and daughter Eliza J. M.(Marilda) are living in the home of Joel G. YOUNG & wife Sarah (who is probably Catherine's brother). Elizabeth J. Marilda YOUNG-NOLES was listed and known to living descendants as "Marilda" or "Rilda"(in thecens). Hope this helps.

Such a test would permit us to prove that Greene Noles was a descendant of the Edmund "Old Silverhead" Knowles (1685 -1762) line.

Did any of the Reuben Futch Noles sons have a male child?

Thanks,

Rob Noles

Robert B.
Hi Nancy,

I have just started my genealogical research and ran across your query. Are you still looking for info? Reuben Noles and Pearlie Griffin were my grandparents.

Reuben was the son of Green Noles. Green's wife, according to my family's records, was "Marilda". I don't have her last name yet.

Both were born in Cook County, but they did live in Berrien County most of their lives.

Let me know if you need more info.

Melvin

Your post re Marcus Alex(Eleck?) and Winnie Scoggins was dated 2005. You may have your reply you need. Marcus Alex wwas the son of my wifes GPA, Soloman Henry Scoggins by Solomans First wife. My wifes mother was Solomans second wife, Orrie MvGuire. We have NO ancestry past Soloman Henry, but do have data on Marcus Alexander and his children
Perhaps we might help each other
"wulybugr@centurytel.net"
8 april 2009

There son Gordon with his wife Nadine Webb and there son Randall (my birth father) are buried at Beulah Cemetery down the road from Crossroads. I have been unable to trace past Fernie other than knowing his mother was named Zannie and he had a sister Lee and as brother James.

My father, William E. Daughtrey, was born in Berrien Co., raised in Cook County. He published "Daughtry and Some Connected Families of the South" in 1983. The book contains extensive genealogies and stories about a number of Daughtry(and variant spellings) families who lived primarily in Southeast GA in the Colonial period, and their descendants through the 1980s. The book also contains many family photos and old documents and maps.

I recently found a limited number of the books which I am offering to family members and serious researchers for $25.00 plus $5.00 shipping. If you are interested, contact me at wdaugh2@msn.com. I am also interested in any family data about Cook Co. Daughtreys.

I have never come across the name of Rilda before. Do you have any more information on her? In my research I have Greene and Mary Etta McNeal with 11 children. Mary Etta and son James are buried in Fellowship Cemetery in the Cecil, GA area. Mary Etta lived in Hahira, GA. James was known as "John". I know that James was a Free Mason and well respected in the area of Hahira. James married Lorraine Sasse. I would appreciate any information you have on this family.
Ann

A quote from the county cemetery book: "Today the cemetery is still located on Futch land. A great-great granddaughter of the old Ferryman, Thomas Futch, lives on the home place with her husband. The old home place, including the cemetery has been continuously in the family since original settlement." I have been to the cemetery and there are directions in the Cook Cemetery Book... as noted above, it *IS* on private land and you should gain permission before entering the cemetery.
I am looking for info on Thomas Futch of Cook Co. I have found some info that says that his family had a cemetery on their homestead. I have been unable to locate the cemetery. One bit of info I recieved said that the old homeplace had been sold to a famed athlete and that the cemetery is still there but may be destroyed due to a strip mine next to it. But I still have no idea where it is.

Re: Reuben Futch Noles Family.

Good Afternoon Nancy,

Green Noles has been somewhat of a mystery for me for some time.

Reuben Futch NOLES is listed in the 1930 Berrien County Census as Reuben F. KNOWLES.

Green Noles and Reuben Futch Noles are listed together in the 1900 Lowndes County Census and Reuben and Rilda are listed together a couple of times, with Rilda listed as a widow. Yet Green Noles is still around. Some of Green's children are living with another woman named Mary Etta, with Mary Etta listed as a widow in several censuses. I have not seen where Green Noles is listed as living with either Mary Etta or Rilda. Mary Etta and Rilda are about the same age based on the Census records, but they are both listed in the 1910 Berrien county Census listed separately (one in Adel and the other in the Connels Militia District)) with sons of Green Noles (Rilda is with her son Reuben and Mary Etta is with her son John).

Perhaps Green Noles was never married to either Rilda or Mary Etta, but had children via both of them.

I believe Green Noles is the son of Charles Hill Noles, and that they are descendants of the large Edmund "Old Silverhead" Knowles (1685-1762) line from Delaware.

Is your sister or one or her children married to a Noles? Is there a male Noles available to be Y-DNA tested? If so, we can prove the Knowles / Noles line of descent with a simple inexpensive test.

Rob Noles

Robert B. Noles
rbnoles@bellsouth.net

Huxford Genealogical Society
www.huxford.com

Director, Knowles/Knoles/Noles family Association
www.KKNFA.org

Looking for any information on Reuben Futch NOLES & Pearlie Ann GRIFFIN family. Believe Reuben could be the s/o Green & Rilda NOLES. Reuben was in the 1910 Berrien and 1920 Cook Co Cens, however, can't find them thereafter. Any information welcomed. Many thanks.

I am seeking information on Minnie (Powers?) Wilkes. I have been told that she was b: 9 Oct 1881 d: 26 Feb 1955 and is buried a the Campground Cemetery at Mt. Zion Methodist Church, north of Morven on GA 76, possibly in Brooks County, but I know her half-brothers and mother lived in Cook County. My records show that she was married (1) Jesse Coon/Coone (2) Ray V. Wilkes. If anyone has information on her and Ray Wilkes, please contact me at path429@embarqmail.com Thank you, Pat
