First you'd have to find the town location for the probate court that handled the estate. Depending on the time period, some may be at the state library or in the relevant probate court's files.
http://www.cslib.org/probintr.htm

I live up in NH and am researching my family tree. Diana's father Kenneth was my 1st cousin. Diana married twice, 1st to Willie Peterson in 1976 and 2nd to Lawri Distefario in 1979. Both marriages ended in divorce. I am curious as to her young death at age 31. Was it an auto acident? Also, did she have any children? Diana had a sister Susan??? I am not sure. The whole family died off young. If you ever got a copy of her obit, I'd like a copy.
Dates found for a marriage and a birth in Waterbury, CT

The archivist for the Hartford Archdiocese was able to forward to me the dates for a marriage and a birth in Waterbury, CT. The information is given on old church ledger pages which have Latin given names and Latin descriptions (often abbreviated) regarding the events and the participants.

John Farrell married his second wife, Anne Bergin, on August 12, 1858. This event was witnessed by James Farrell and Marie Lawlor at the Immaculate Conception Church in Waterbury,CT. The Reverend Father Sheridan administered the sacrament of marriage. John Farrell's first wife, Jane Conroy, died sometime in 1857. I am now trying to figure out the relationship between John and James Farrell. Were they brothers or were they cousins?

Elizabeth Farrell was baptized on May 18, 1851. She was the first born child of John Farrell and Jane Conroy. She was either born on May 1 or May 11, 1851. It is very difficult to decipher the handwriting from the old ledger page.

Robraff, when you mention that records are "available on Morman microfilms", how detailed is the information contained on those microfilms? Is it just listings of births, marriages, and deaths? Would it have the applications for marriage licenses and naturalizations? The applications for such events would be loaded with additional information such as the names of the parents of the participants and their places of origin in the Old World.
My best regards,
Dave

She was the daughter of David Woodruff and Esther Clark who married in Oxford 1760.
If she is not in the Milford, I see that the Derby and Oxford do not have records for this early.
Hello; the James Ferguson you found was actually a "James Farquharson" and was the ancestor of all our family. Anyone named Ferguson is also part of the Farquharson Clan. Many people spelled our name with the "Ferguson" spelling, mainly because it was quite difficult to understand the Scottish vernacular.
Do not believe your James was any part of the New Haven gentlelman, because we can account for all of his children and they all settled in central New York. We also know that this James Farquharson/Ferguson came directly from Scotland and never lived in Nova Scotia.

A little more -
Margeret E Laird married Frank Nelson Hard. They were married between 1910-1917. They lived in Naugatuck. Frank owned a variety store which he had bought from his father and it was located at 156 Church St. in Naugatuck. They lived at 235 Maple St. in Naugatuck. It looks as if they didn't have any children. You can find them in the 1920 & 1930 census in Naugatuck. Frank died 11-12-1949 in Waterbury. Interesting that it shows he was never married. Both the WWI & WWII record shows he was along with the census records. I cannot find when Margaret died but she is still shown in the 1962 directory. I could not find a death record for her or for Frank.
Margaret is shown buying a lot on Walnut St. in 1923 from a Mary Donnelly.

I certainly appreciate all your help. This has been a real adventure for me. My dad's dad died when he was just 2 years old and I never new anyone from the Clark side of our family except his brothers and sisters and my grandfather's brother and sister, Clarence and Clara, who were twins. I'm not really sure why that is, but it is!? My email address is woody0211@msn.com, and I would love anything you have time to send me.
If I get any new data on Elijah, Job, Ruth, etc., I will pass it on to you.
Thanks so much.

Hello,
I still think Elijah's father was Job. Ruth was younger than Esther, (Ruth's first marriage was in 1758 to Joseph Munson.) Then there are the two references which mention Stephen is Elijah's brother, and Stephen's son Ashahel is his nephew. The Gazetter further mentions that Timothy is Elijah's brother as well. For now I think it appears that Elijah is the son of Job and Ruth, though additional may prove otherwise. I am sorry I can't help you much with Chauncy. I have very few notes on him, but I could send you what I have if you like. Also, would you like a copy of the PDF's I have on Ichabod and Timothy's Rev. War pension requests? If so I could send them via email if I had your email address.
Heather

Hi Heather,
My research shows that Job Clark, born Jul 24 1723,did indeed have a son Elijah, (although my spelling show Elizah), but yours makes more sense. :)
However, I think we are missing a generation somewhere, as it would mean Job was 60 years old when Elijah was born. Although not out of the realm of possibilities, as my 2xGreatgrandfather, Justus Blackstone Clark(e) has shown, I still think we are missing something somewhere.
This line of my family is making me nuts, largely due to Justus Blackstone. He lists different birthplaces for himself on most census records, such as Iowa, New York, Vermont...and does the same for his parents birthplace. I originally had family history that stated his parents were Chauncy Clark and Ann Eggleston of Salina, Onondanga, New York, but I have not found any data to support this. In fact, beyond Justus Blackstone, I'm not even sure I'm on the right track, although much of the line fits various names and namesakes in my family. I will continue to do research, and of course, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Georgia

Sealand Hall of Cheshire and New Hartford

I'm researching Sealand Hall who was born 3 May 1781 in Cheshire, New Haven County, Connecticut. His name is sometimes spelled Seland Hall and mistranscribed as Lealand or Leland Hall. He was a resident of New Hartford, Litchfield County, Connecticut in 1803 when he sold land in Cheshire. He is listed in the 1810 census of Cheshire and the 1820 census of Guilford, Chenango County, New York. His son George Hall was born 1 Feb. 1804 in Connecticut, but I haven’t found a record of his birth in town or church records.

I’d like to identify Sealand Hall’s wife, but I haven’t been able to locate their marriage record. I’ve checked deeds, town records and Congregational church records for both Cheshire and New Hartford. I did not find Sealand in the Hale Collection.

Can anyone suggest other sources I should check?

Thank you.

Rick Crume, e-mail rc32@georgetown.edu

Hi,
I have a copy of Ichabod's Revolutionary War Pension request. Part of that includes a letter his brother Timothy wrote. In it he states:" My father Job Clark, resided in Wallingford, Connecticut until his decease in 1796." If you would like a copy of this, as well as Timothy's Rev. war request, let me know and I can email it to you.

Elijah Clark's tombstone reads, Elijah Clark died 3 April 1825, ae 42,[(Transcript of Union Cemetery, page 140 - wa at Sandy Hill, NY,)Now is between Hudson Falls and Fort Edward, NY.] Also, the family bible says Elijah Clark died April, 3 1825, age 42. These two references show that Elijah was born about 1783. I do not know exactly when Esther died. If you do, please fill me in. I just list her as dying before Oct of 1766, as that is when Job married Ruth. I reasoned that if Elijah was born in 1783 he must be the son of Ruth not Esther.

I believe my 4th great grandfather, Elijah Clark is Job's son from two different references. Elijah's second wife, Sophie(Wheeler)Clark Hall [She married Abner Hall after Elijah died.] has an obit from the Sandy Hill Herald June 18,1885 which says she was married to Elijah Clark, that his father was Job Clark and his brother was Stephen who married Rachel Jackson and their children were: Russell, Lyman, Asahel, Orville, Miles, Stephen, Homer, Fanny, Orphiz and Laura. Sophia (Wheeler) Clark Hall is buried at Union Cemetery next to Elijah Clark. The second reference comes from the Vermont Historical Gazetteer: A Magazine, Embracing A History of Each Town, Civil, Ecclesiastical, Biographical and Military. Edited by Abby Maria Hemenway, Volume III, Orleans and Rutland Counties, The Claremont Manufacturing Company 1877.
Page 861: "D.W.C. Clark writes to his mother, after 1822, from Sandy Hill, of the death of Elijah Clark, and in 1826, mentions also the widow of Elijah Clark (Mrs. Meech says) was an uncle of her husband (Asahel), brother of Stephen, his father, and that he had also another uncle, Timothy Clark, residing in that section of the country, and it was his family that first drew the family of Stephen Clark that way. "
(Mrs. Meech was Lydia Finney Clark Meech. Her maiden name was Finney, her first marriage was to Asahel Clark, and her second marriage was to Ezra Meech.)

Now you can see why I think; Job stayed in Wallingford, Conn., and he was the son of Job and Ruth Clark. If you give me your email I will send you any of this information you would like. Also, I have a few other items on Ichabod.

Sincerely,
Heather

His children Sarah and John were born in Connecticut, the rest were born in Vermont. Also, you show Elijah born in 1783, while my research shows he was born in 1758 and Timothy, the youngest born in 1760. Esther died in 1765, which means all of these children belonged to her. I have not found any children born to Job and Ruth Rexford, although that doesn't mean there are none, it just means I haven't found them yet. :) My family line descends from Job and Esther's son Ichabod Goodyear Clark.

Nice website.

I descend from Richard Sperry, born about 1606/7 in Turleigh Parish, Bedfordshire, England and his 2nd wife Dennis (Goodyear?), through their daughter Estehr Sperry born in 1654 in New Haven, Ct who married Daniel Hotchkiss. I am not sure who the parents of Dennis were, but have received some information that they could have been William Goodtear and Sarrah Marre, but this data is not verified. I am interested in any information on the Sperry line or the line of Dennis ___. Also, I would be interested in reading more about Riochard Sperry being a regicide supporter in England.

Thank you all,

Robert Awalt
San Diego
connectom@yahoo.com

I am trying to connect Aarron Hill who married Pamelia Winston to this family. He went to LaGrange CO., Indiana and then later to Iowa where he died. His son Ebenezer Hill married hannah M. Barber.

Many thanks, Margaret Shea and Dennis Hickey were married. Margaret was born in Wales in 1865. She died in New Haven in 1934. Dennis was born in 1861 and died in New Haven in 1921. Margaret's uncles were Owen O'Neil born 1841 and Jerry (perhaps Jeremiah) born 1847. I do not know when either died but they were living in New Haven.

Dennis's mother was Ellen Horrigan Hickey and also died in New Haven, in 1910. She was born in Ireland (as perhaps were the others) in 1845.
