Dollie......it sounds as if my grandmother, Elizabeth Agnes Sprenger Mattoon, might have been his sister. She was born May 29, 1890 ....Westchester, Cty. Perhaps Yonkers/Pawling or Phelem. She was the daughter of Catherin Curtin ( Burtin was found in one source) and John Sprenger. I do remember visiting cousins in Mamaronack,NY area and in Mt Vernon, NY. I have contacted several living cousins to try to piece stuff together. Hopefully, someone will have some records.

Wow. That sounds correct per the birth certificate. I have one living aunt in her 80s living in Troy, NY. Grandfather Ralph's children all live in the capital district surrounding NY. Ralph and Estella had 7 children in all, the youngest being my father (John Matthew Springer) and the second youngest being the one living aunt. I have a family tree on-line at the Ultimate Family Tree website. It has been a while since I have had time to check it. She has asked me to find out as much as I could about her father because she knew so little about him. This would be exciting news for her. Thank you so much for posting the message. area.......Hubby teaches in Troy. It does look like we are connected thru the Sprenger. My sister, who is 6 years older than I am, is visiting from Va.
