I guess I can only say how great you are to share your kindness. I have been searching for info on my gr grandfather's wife Mary Dooling/Dowling/Dulan/
O'Dowd. Micheal
Hayes, father of
Barnard, Wm., Micheal, Helen, May and James born 1870 Oct in Ireland (believe
Cork) married her March 1894. He emigrated here 1888 and died prior to 1920. He was a saloon keeper that was off Main. Mary was born Nov 1863 or 73, most likely Ireland. Died in
Waterbury in 9/30/1952. She emigrated here in 1885 according to a census from Ireland.
Another branch- Mulligan was my paternal grandmother's. Marg. Mary 5/6/1903, married James
Hayes, I suspect around 1893, no document as of yet. Her father John born 1858/57 around
Thomaston, was the son of Thomas
Mulligan who appears in census after 1850 in CT again no proof. Thomas wife was Kate??? 1825 and I came from Ireland during Great Famine together around 1853 and was a wool spinner. John married Anna
Riley or O'Reilly born bef 1870 in Mass and died before 1930 for I find no trace of her in census. She had sons
Luke James, George. John
Mulligan died 3/11/1890. For some reason the name Henry appears alot in census and feel that Henry, James, George were oft used first names in Mulligans. They were
Roman Catholics from "Free Ireland". All claim to be Waterburians. Some worked fire and police departments and George
Mulligan did well rising up through HUD.
On Micheal
Hayes, a first cousin was offered college scholarship in NY for basketball and became a pro player. They raised dogs, a bridge in
Waterbury is named for one of my surnamed descendant though unsure which one. One relative got involved in local and state politics and another had a soda company like Canada Dry. One inspired to be a actor though from what shows in census many worked factories like
Brass and Scovill's. Any info to get dates, info whatever, I have the research bug now for well over 30 years. Pictures and where to find another, as well as newspaper reports and certificates. Any help and advice welcomed. If need more info I will eagerly and gratefully reply.
It is great what you are offering. I have books on South
Georgia that I would gladly look up. Missing one volume. Thankyou in advance for any help. Most Respectfully, .
