Growing up in South Norwalk (1950's/1960's) (Fairfield County) I lived 2 doors away from a Gausepohl family. The father's name was John and I believe the mother's name was Marie. They had three children. Janet was the oldest and I think her younger sister's name was Jean. The youngest child was John. I don't know if they are related to the family you are looking for but it might be a place to start.
