Ralph Coleman died 22 Nov. 1918.
There is an obit in the Eaton Herald, page 8, column 3. Not sure of date of the issue. Not close, you can request a look up from The Weld County Genelogical Society. Believe they charge abt $5.00

If the resources exist I would appreciate a look-up for the death date of Ralph Coleman, born Jan. 2, 1888 Nebraska.
His WWI Draft Reg. card shows him living in Pierce in the 1917 registration. His occupation was self employed proprietor of a drug store living with wife and two children.
Any help would be appreciated.

I am looking for Dorthey Jost who married D. Friend Martin (1921-1943), they had a son, Ronnie Martin. D. Friend Martin was the son of Harry S. Martin of Buffalo County Nebr. and Mabel Clair Friend of Yuma County, Colorado. I have no information such as birth dates on Dorthey Jost or son Ronnie. Her Husband, D. Friend Martin died while a test pilot during WWII. Any info would help. I have attached a photo of Dorthey. Thank You Kimble Burton. I am Ronnie Martin's first cousin.

I am searching for my cousin Clarence Roses he is the son of Patricia Gallegos and Alex Roses.
He was born about 1960. His mother was from Greeley.
His parents got divorced and none of our family knows what happened to him.

Mary's middle name was Eleanor. She passed in 1928.

Cemetry Book1

Weld County, Colorado Tombstone Inscriptions, Vol II (Greeley, CO: The Genealogical Society of Weld County, CO, 1988). The WCMI includes full name and page number they are on in the above publication. A copy of this book can be found in the genealogy collection at the Centennial Park Branch Library, call number gen 929.3788 weld cou v.2.

Looking for Info on Henry Kirby

I am looking for any information on Henry W. Kirby, born in Illinois. He was married to Mary E Ryan, from Kansas. The family moved to Ault sometime in 1904 or '05. Kirby ran a furniture store there until 1919. The 1920 US Census lists Mary as a widow, so there is a rough frame for his death. I would greatly appreciate any leads to an obit. or grave site. Mary Ryan Kirby died before 1930, I suspect in '28 or '29. She was living in Ault, but may have been buried in Greeley. Again, any info would be appreciated! Thanks.

I believe the 3 brothers moved to be close to their other brother, Isano Takayasu.
I am not sure about the other 2, but George moved back to Japan and passed in 1968, I believe.

When I was a little boy and visited my grandad's farm at Wiggins there were three Japanese brothers who farmed for him. I always thought of them fondly since they paid so much attention to me and I consider them my first friends. When the second World War started they disappeared from my life.
I learned that they moved to the Ft. Lupton area where they farmed. I visited them about 1956 before I left for overseas when I was in the army.
I wonder if they were removed from Morgan County as part of the unfair relocation of Japanese citizens.

My point: Does anybody in the Ft. Lupton area remeber anything about the three Takayasu brothers; Ben, Kenzi (sp), and George?

I would appreciate any information on the brothers or the Raggl/Raggel brothers Alois and Frank.

No...I did not have this info. I just found out a couple of days ago about the Oney connection.

You probably know. Do you have any good sites where I can start looking for information Francis Grant Epperson serving at Fort Warren? The 1930 census showed him in Otero county, so I am thinking it would be after that. He ended up in California...
I have not done any research for military records, so I do not know where to start. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I am researching the Westfall family.
My ggranmother's sister Eleanor Nellie Westfall married a William Benjamin Epperson. They had many children....she died in 1918 and some of her children went to an orphange in VA.
I am looking at one of their children Frances Grant Epperson that was born in Colorado in 1914....and went to the Bethaney home in VA. I just recently connected with his granddaughter who is giving me some info.

Grant Frances was in Otero Co, CO in 1930

His granddaughter (dana Epperson) tells me we met his wife Viola Bell Oney while he was stationed at Fort Warren in Wyo.

Viola Bell Oney was from Greeley COO.. There are a number of Oney family members buried in the Linn Grove Cemetery in Greeley.

Grant and Viola had two boys, one of which I know lives in California.

If anyone has more information about Grant or the Oney family, I would love to be able to share this info with Dana...also, this is part of my family tree.

If anyone would like me to share the Oney members in the Linn Grove family, I can do this also.

The Wilfred Turner that was born in Colorado in July 1881 is found on the 1900 census of Boulder County, Colorado.

In 1910, Wilford is in Weld County.

He is still in Weld County in 1920, and he is still single.

On the 1930 census of Huerfano County, Colorado, are an Albert and Mary Brown living near Bruce and Ruth Starkling. According to that census, Ruth was born in Colorado, and both of her parents were born in Missouri. The Mary Brown who is married to Albert was born in Missouri. She and Albert have only been married 6 years.

I cannot find Mary, Ruby, or Ruth on the 1910 or 1920 census.

I'm researching the Eastenes/Istenes/Estenes/Smith family --- they spelled it lots of different ways.

John Eastenes is mentioned in this article as he was killed instantly by the militia. He lived in near by Lafayette with his wife and six children

Others mentioned were:
Nick Spanudakhis, 34, Lafayette, lived only a few minutes. Frank Kovich of Erie, Rene Jacques, 26, of Louisville and 21 year old Jerry Davis died hours later in the hospital. The American flag Davis carried was riddled with seventeen bullet holes and stained with blood. Mike Vidovich of Erie, 35, died a week later of his injuries.

Does anyone have family involved in the Coal Mine at that time?

HI Jerry,
Not a problem. Colorado has had so much rain, severe weather, tornados, hail....everytime I plan on making the trip from Broomfield (where I live) to Linn Grove Cem (about an hour from here) the weather has been awful. I am just waiting for a break in the weather on one of my days off. I want to enjoy the day and not be rushed by a stormy day.
Just lately Greeley has a new web site... you can put in a name and see the aerial view of the cemetery and where a person is buried. I am enclosing this for you. On the left hand side of the screen you can zoom in and out. Wonderful aid and quit amazing. You can actually see where in the cemetery Mattie's stone is.
I will get to Linn Grove hopefully very soon....

I just looked at the Linn Grove cemetery site and there does not seem to be a picture of her tombstone on this site.
I am planning to go to this cemetery if the stupid weather eever decides to give us some days without rain.
Would you like me to take a photo of her tombstone for you?
Not a problem.... I will probably be there all day as I have lots of picture to take. Whatever pictures I get will be posted to the cemetery as well as other tombstone photo project sites.

Death of Lloyd Geis in car crash 1946

LaSalle Youth is Dead From Injuries as Auto Is Upset Near Campion

Lloyd Geis, 22, of LaSalle, was fatally injured at 12:45 this morning when the Ford automobile he was driving overturned three miles south of Loveland at a curved on highway No. 87 near Campion.
Geis died at 2:00 p.m. in the Loveland hospital. He had suffered a basal skull fracture and probably a broken neck. He had been paralyzed since the accident.
Three companions in the auto which overturned received less serious injuries. Kenneth Salsar, 21 of LaSalle, received face lacerations and bruises. He was still at the hospital here Saturday. Others who sustained minor injuries were Zane Geis, 18, of Wheatland, Wyo, and Ray Meisinger of LaSalle. Zane Geis is a cousin of Lloyd Geis.
State Patrol Officer Roy Calhoun of Fort Collins who was in Berthoud at the time of the accident and who went to the scene said that it was evident that the Geis auto was traveling at a high rate of speed. It was headed north; the four boys had attended a dance at Longmont earlier in the night.
The car apparently rolled over several times; the damaged machine was towed to the Bonnell Buick-Pontiac company shops here.
The car rolled nearly 200 feet into a field and Geis was thrown out.
Lloyd Geis is the son of Mr and Mrs Frank Geis of LaSalle. The injured were brought to the hospital here by the Loveland fire department rescue car.

I read your thank you and it sure did make me feel good.
People have been so kind to me in the past and I just want to pay it forward.
I have been looking through the old Colorado newspapers for info on my family, and I can not resist copying off ANY oibt I see because I just know someone else is looking for their families. I have such a pile of obits and every so often I just decide to set down and pound out a few and post them to the correct surname lists.
Just so you know, I am also posting them to the Colorado Obit site so they are there for years to come.
I really do not mean to post anonymously, I just forget to say who I am, just get wrapped up in reading about other families.
I am so glad that you enjoy what little contribution I can make for all of us loving the history of our ancestors.

Mattie M. Rymer was the daughter of John Jacob M (Jake) Rymer and Jemima Riemer. I'm pretty sure that Jake Rymer and Jemima Riemer were cousins of some sort who married, but I haven't been able to work out the exact relationships. Rymer and Reimer were spelling varations of the same family surname in Polk County, Tennessee.

Mattie was born on 12 Sep 1868 in Tennessee, probably in Polk County. She died 26 Nov 1902 in Greeley. Mattie married George Steward (Steward) Bryan on 16 Dec 1894 in Jefferson County, Tennessee. There are numerous records for Steward (including Mattie's obit) that spell his name as Stewart and even as Stuart, but family records and the weight of evidence of other records persuade me that his name was properly spelled as Steward, which is a fairly unusual name.

Mattie and Steward were enumerated in the 1900 census in Knox County, Tennessee. Steward was enumerated in the 1910 census in Knox County, Tennessee. They were living in Colorado at the time of Mattie's death due to Steward's job with the railroad. Steward appears to have worked for the railroad all his life, and lived at several places throughout the country.

Steward was born on 9 Nov 1869 in Sevier County, Tennessee. He was the son of my ggg grandparents Peter Hubbard Bryan and Mary Ann (Polly Ann) Cate. As such, Steward was the brother of my gg grandfather William Allen (Will) Bryan. Sevier County, Jefferson County, and Knox County are mutually adjacent, and about 200 years of my Bryan family were born and raised in Sevier County.

Mattie and Steward had two daughters: Mayme Lee Bryan born 1 Sep 1896 in Tennessee and Pauline (Polly) Bryan born 29 Nov 1898 in Tennessee. After Mattie's death, Steward returned to Tennessee with the girls and they were raised by relatives. Mayme was raised by Mattie's brother Will Rymer. Polly was raised by Mattie's sister Laura Rymer Mauk.

Steward remarried in Tennessee about four years after Mattie's death. He had four children with his second wife, but Mayme and Polly never lived with him again. In fact, there are reports from some of Steward's descendants that the children from his first marriage and the children from his second marriage didn't meet each other until his funeral.

Finally, I should thank all you Weld County folks for all your genealogical kindness. I live in Tennessee and it's a long way from Tennessee to Colorado. A few years ago, I called the Greeley Library (or Weld County Library, not sure how that worked) and asked them for a lookup of Mattie's death information. They did the lookup for me, made copies, and mailed me the information - all without charge. It's unusual to get such totally wonderful service. Now on top of that, some kind soul has posted Mattie's obit.
