I am looking for descendents of Jeptha Weeks and his family who came to San Bernandino County from Alabama in 1856. Jeptha Weeks traveled with twelve of his children and their families from Mississippi by wagon train to Salt Lake City. He died with small pox outside Salt Lake and Brigham Young would not let the party enter the city. They buried him there and traveled on to San Bernandino County. In 1916 his grandson, George West, went back to his burial place and brought the body back and buried him with other family members in the Pioneer Memorial Cemetery. Jeptha had nine daughters so I am looking for their descendents also. Their husbands names were Edward W. Ridley, James Monroe West, David Lehi Aldridge, William Terry, William Jones Harris, Richard Allen, Ithamar Judson, George Eli Hubbell, and Benjamin Matthews. His sons were Samuel C. Weeks (married mary E. Flanagen), James Solomon Weeks (married Tama Lavina Wells), and John Carter Weeks (married Sarah Maria Cram). I think all of them are buried in the Pioneer Memorial Cemetery. I would appreciate hearing from anyone connected to any of these.

I have a Benjamin Franklin Mathews, born 16 April 1819 in Hamilton Co., TN, who married Temperance Weeks about 1839. He died in San Bernardio Co., CA 18 Aug. 1888. This Benjamin Mathews was a brother of my ancestor Nancy S, Mathews who married Garret Fitzgerald. Benjamin and Nancy were children of Thomas Mathews and Jane McDavid. Thomas Mathews was the son of Ezekiel Mathews and Rebecca Jones. Jane McDavid was the daughter of William McDavid and Nancy Dorroh. Benjamin Mathews, a Mormon, is mentioned in the early history of San Bernardio County.

Andrew Bernard Mathew "Ben" (B) 7/8/1897, (D) 7/1974 of San Bernardino, San Bernardino Co., CA. is my Grandfather he was married to Mabel Lucille Davis "Lucille" and had a son- Clarence Andrew Mathew (my father). I am searching for the Names of his parents and his siblings. He was part Chiricahua,Apache and belonged to a tribe but I do ot know which one. "Ben" remarried and had other children one of which as a daughter Patrica which Dad spoke of often. Any and all information would be greatly appreciated.

There was a William Weeks who taught English at San Bernardino High School in the 1950s. It might be a direction to search.
