Surnames: Preece
Hi, just checking out the message board and my step father was Travis Franklin Preece, son of Franklin Boone Preece, they came to Texas from Ky but thats about all I know on that. Travis left 5 sons all still living here except 1 son in Ga.
He also has 2 daughters. Most are living in the central Texas area. Austin and west of there. He had 1 brother, Delmer who passed away years ago and several sisters, all deceased. Would like to talk with other families.

Hello.
My name is Kim Weninger and I am looking into my mothers family.
I was given the name of Franklin Boone Preece as a name to look up.
Could you tell me about Travis Preeces children?
I think that my grandmother came from this family.
Thanks for any help you might give.

Hi Kim, my name was Linda Tyler and Travis Franklin Preece was my stepfather. He raised me from a small child. Franklin Boone Preece was his father and it is belived that he came to Texas from Kentucky. He married Nettie McGrew from Oklahoma. Her father was George McGrew but we have been unable to find any thing on her, even a name. The Preece family migrated to Texas and were in the Austin area way back. The Preece cemetary has graves that are quite old. They did own lots of land in the Travis county and Williamson county area. For some reason unknown to us they lost nearly all of it. There are lots of Preece's in that area. The Shannon family may have some info that I don't. One of Daddy's sisters married a Shannon and also there are some Hickman's in the family from that area. An aunt named Pearl married a man named Pearl how weird is that. Franlkin Boon Preece is buried in Lometa, Tx. a small town in central Tx. where he was living when he died. I have been trying to piece together more history so if there is anything that you can help with please do. What was your mother's name? Daddy had two daughters who moved to Alabama, Mississippi and Fl. area. I don't think that Eldera had any girls but Maudetta did by adoption and then 1 by birth, I believe. Eldera was married to I think Ray Roberts and Maudetta was married to Luther (Jim) Harmon. Any help there would be greatly appreciated. The family has lost all contact with those children and would love to touch base with them. Thanks Linda

Sorry Kim, I replied before I read your other messages. Yes, I knew Margie when I was a child. She was very beautiful. Her mother was Lena Preece Miller who was Travis Preece's sister. You have a very big family. Are you not in touch with your aunt Joanne? She lives near Burnet, Tx. If you would like to contact me personally you can email me at linda_feem1@yahoo.com. We can go from there and I can fill you in on a lot of it. Be looking to hear from you. Linda

Linda,
Hi!
I guess we are related. My maternal grandmother was Lena Preece Miller. She married James Leslie Miller and they had five living children. All the children are gone but my Aunt Joann. My mother married Jay Glosson and had three children; Johney Lee Glosson, Richard Leslie Glosson and Kathleen Suzanne Glosson. She then divorced and married my dad Ronald Elwood Spradling. They had me Kimberly Ann (Spradling)Weninger, Rhonda Kay (Spradling)Snyder, Kerry Len Spradling and Ronald Cash Spradling.
I hope this helps you and I'd like to merge this with our Spradling tree here if we can.
Say my family had Native American blood on both my granfathers side of the family and my grandmothers (Lena). Could it be possible that George W McGrew was married to a Native American? I know that they had both Cherokee and Commanche....not sure which side had which...
Let me know what all you need...I'm gonna have to get dates of some of my relatives on births and deaths for you.
Thanks so much for helping me! It looks like you've been really busy!
Have a good one...and feel free to email me if you wish!
Kim Weninger

Hi Kim, its me again. Just read your last message, Thanks a bunch. You may feel free to mingle this with your tree. Do you have any thing on Jim your grandfather? I have not been able to find anything much on him. I saw Joanne in August and thats the first time I had seen her in years. Sure enjoyed that. Thanks Linda

Linda,
Great! I'm glad you know us! I do speak to Aunt Jody but she's been really busy with babysitting the twins for Laura....she's pretty hard to get a hold of.
I talked to my brother John tonight and he will get as much information as he can for you as I'm a little vague on details. I didn't have much contact with my mom's family til I was grown.
I'm so thrilled to get this figured out finally! I've been wanting to get as much done as I can on the family tree and wanted to present it at Christmas if I could. So any help I can get would be wonderful!
Thanks again Linda....and I will contact you as needed!

Linda,
You know I really don't. I know he had Native American blood and that he died when I was four. I remember him really well though. He seemed really tall (although that is from a four year olds perspective!) and he had white hair. He also had a Siamese cat named Moses. He said it was because this cat talked all the time!
I cried and cried when he died. I think I must have been his favorite because we were always together....
I'll see what I can find...
Thanks!

Linda,
I just got through talking to my little brother Cash and he is thrilled to get this information. He started the Spradling tree a few years ago but we didn't have much on mom's side of the family.
I told him that you might want to contact him personally and he would love to exchange emails with you so you can also talk to him.
Here is his...

Please let us know what all you might need and we'll get as many facts together for you on our family as we can.
Thanks!
Kim

Jim was a very sweet man and the white hair was so lovely. My mother says he turned white over night when he was about 18 yrs old. whether from illness or a shock I do not know. I was very young and spent some time with them. Your grandmother had very long hair and would sit at the dresser and brush it out every night. It would touch the floor. Then she would braid it and wrap the braid around her head. I loved the way they all talked. A slow slow drawl and Jo anne has lost some of it but she still sounds like aunt Lena. My brother Travis Jr. would love to talk with all of ya'll and so wouuld my sister Janice. She lives in Leander right out of Austin and Jr. is in Lampasas. So glad to finally reach some of Margies family. Thanks for contacting me. Linda
