Anthony Wayne Dunn

I am looking for information on gg grandfather Anthony Wayne Dunn born Feb 1818 and died after 1900. He lived in Washington Co in 1840, 1850 and 1900. He was married 3 or 4 times and had 15 children. One of his wives was believed to be Betty Garrison. Also looking for any information on his parents. His daughter, Lucy Emma Dunn b 1886 and died Nov 30, 1954 was married to George Washington Evans B Sept 1880 D Apri 26 1952. Would very much appreciate any help. Hello there,
Judy Sullivan was my first cousin. Ophelia was my Aunt, her sister Polly was my mother. I use to live in santa rosa..i remember joe as an infant...and as a child.
many of our relatives are registered with the MOWA Band of choctaw indians in alabama.

Hello there,
I was surfing the internet and sometimes i will just google my grandparents names...low and behold your posting came up! My grandfather was frank reed, married to Betty (Weaver) reed.
My son has made a website for frank and betty reed descedents.
alot of my relatives are registered with the MOWA Band of Choctaw in Alabama.
My cousin Charles Sims is the official delagate out here in the west as a liasion to the alabama tribe.
I can give you weblinks to these relatives..some who have extensive documentation of our linage..back to the 1700's.

Thanks for the reply. I have visited Millry, AL since I made the original post. I visited several grave sites and found A LOT of Caten's buried in numerous cemeteries throughout Millry.

I have since found out that Henry Caten was the brother to my gg grandfather, Robert Cayten (buried in Forrest County, MS). There was another brother named Sidney Caten.

I also found out that their father was Andrew Cayten and their mother was Eliza Miller, both from South Carolina. I don't have any proof of this, just info from a family tree done several years ago on the Cayten's by someone else.

I also found out that Robert and Henry's mother, Eliza, died fairly young and Andrew remarried a Rebecca Williamson. They had 4 kids together.

I can't seem to find any more inforation beyond Andrew Caten. I'm not even sure if any of this is correct. I'm at a brick wall right now with Andrew Caten.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I have a lot of Caten in my line; there are several cemeteries in Washington County, Alabama with Caten's; some are interred in Barlow Cemetery, Shady Grove, Mount Carmel, Chalk Hill, Healing Springs, Sunflower, Springbank;

Hello, I messaged you earlier on a link about Ophelia Reed, thought I would also check the posts here and low and behold I found exactly what I was hoping. I know where they are and who they are, well at least most of them.

Betty (Weaver) Reed married Frank Reed and they had approx 7 children, of which Ophelia Jane Reed who married Fletcher Sullivan and they had 6 children I believe without looking and Judy Sullivan is one of them who is the mother of my fiance Joe Sullivan the eldest of her 5 children.

Judy passed away recently and we discovered that she had been registered as a Choctaw Indian and are trying to see what Joe would need to do to do the same. But as I am finding it seems the family is or may be creek as well.

During my research to find my ancestors, someone told me that some of my ancestors are buried in Millry, AL. By a methodist church???

My last name is Cayten, but I've noticed different spellings of my last name in 1800's/early 1900's census'. I've seen Cayten, Caton, Caten, Cayton. I'm looking to find where any of these people with these last names are buried. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

According to what I found on Rootswebworldconnect, his first wife was Mary Carpenter. In the Washington Co. 1880 census, his wife is listed as Mary.

John Akridge on Nov 17,1895 in Dale county ,Al at her fathers home( this from a marriage license I Just got from the courthouse in Dale county,Alabama)They had a son General Zory Akridge b.9-4-1896 in coffee county,Alabama.She died before the 1900 census as John was listed w/1 son and was widowed.

M.E.Hood - married John Akridge Nov 17,1895 in Dale county ,Alabama at her fathers home.
gave birth to a son General Zory Akridge on 9-4-1896 in Coffee county ,Al She died before 1900,as John was listed as widowed with 1 son in the 1900 census.

The index is odd. Index to part 2 gives first and last names. Index to part 3 is by surname only. So the index is not to a Volume 3 as far as I can tell - really all for Vol 2.

Does anyone have access to this book? The Huntsville Library only had I & II on my trip there.
I'd love to know the info on Shoultz on pages 428, 429 & 436. Lafoy on pages 426, 442 & 409. Moseley on 417, 420, 421, 422, 443 & 445. Davidson is also listed on page 420.

Can anyone help me with any of this?

Your Calvin L. Hennis (buried Reynolds Cemetery) was born 1897. The generation above him also has a Calvin, born 1857. The 1857 Calvin had a sister Mary Jane, born 1851 who is my great grandmother.

Their father (there are several more siblings - see 1870 U.S. Census) was Lewis Hennis and his wife's name was "Tabitha." I have Lewis Hennis' CSA Military record and have traced my line to him for UDC purposes.

What I am trying to find out is Tabitha's maiden name? Do you have anything else on Lewis and Tabitha Hennis?

This is in Reynolds cemetery in Washington County, I have photo's of their monuments on findaagrave.com It is spelled Hennis by the way. Just a misprint in the WC Book.

The spelling of Ennis was in error (it is prounounced that way. But Emma Caroline Palmer Hennis and husband Calvin L Hennis are buried Reynolds Cemetery. They are posted on findagrave.com by me as Emma is in my line of Palmer.

Hi Ellen - long time replying! The Calvin (mother Tabitha) is not my grandfather. This Calvin (L.) was a "double" first cousin as my father described. My father is Robert Abraham and is buried in the Williams Cemetery - Fruitdale.
His siblings are Lige (Elijiah), William C. and Emma Hennis Singleton. My grandfather Calvin does not appear to have used a middle initial - was born abt 1852. note: list his wife as Emma Carolina Palmer Hennis born Nov. 5, 1889 in Washington co. Alabama died August 16, 1974 Chatom, Washington co.

WHIDDON m. a (Christopher) Columbus DUNN around 1900.
Do you have anything on THEIR children?
Maybelle Whiddon was d/o Catherine V. PRINE WHIDDON and Charles W. WHIDDON. They lived in Deerpark, then later in
Mississippi (Lucedale) where they ran the Whiddon Hotel.
