I have a question regarding the Native Americans in the Randolph County area. Norman B. Moore is a distant relative on my mother's side. He purchased some land in north Randolph County in Jan 1859. We are trying to figure out if in order to purchase this land, he had to adopt a Native American orphan. He has a daughter listed in 1860 census as N R Moore (later Nancy Rebecca Moore). My family wants to know if she, Nancy, was full blooded Cherokee or Creek. Do you have any information on her or the Native Americans in Randolph County? Thanks for you help.

I am doing research on the Swanson family of Roanoke, Ala. We are of African American decent with some Indian ancestry. My Grandfather's parents were from Lagrange GA, but they lived back and forth between Chambers, Randoloph, and Troup County Georgia in the late 1800's to early 1900's. The Swanson's married and had offsprings with other families in the area such as the; Boyd,Smith,Strong, Magby, Roundtree, MacKnight families. Some of my Grandparent's associates were the Broom's and the Brewer's. They attended Peace and Goodwill Church. I also had a Uncle Henry Swanson that worked on the Alanta, Birmingham & Alantic Railroad.
Please contact me if you have any information relating to these families.

Do you have any information on the William Griffin family and/or the Archibald T. Reeves/Reaves family? They lived in Randolph Co., Alabama in the 1850's to ? William Griffin was married to Lavinia Wilkins Griffin and one of their sons was Rufus Marion Griffin b. 1844 (my gg grandfather). Archibald T. Reeves was married to Mary (Polly) Richardson and one of their daughters was Maretta Jane Reeves b. 1849. Both William and Archibald owned land in Randolph Co., and I believe that they both lived there the rest of their lives. Archibald and possibly his wife, Mary, and son, Archibald, are buried in the Liberty Grove Cemetery. Also, there is a family story that Archibald, Jr. was murdered.

Any information would be of great interest to me!

Thanks.

Hi:

I have some info on descendants of Eli A. Smith, Ann Medders. Cullen Marion G. Smith and Mary Ann Stephens. The ones I have been researching are the Smith and Stephens descendants who went to East Texas. I would love to know more about Cullen's son, Henry H. Smith.

Thanks,
