Nadine (ADERHOLD) LAND, 84, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2009, at Graystone Manor hospice, 17207 Graystone Drive, in Dallas, TX.

Mrs. LAND was the wife of Ernest C. LAND, Sr., whom she married on January 30, 1955, at Eastern Heights Baptist Church in Columbus, GA. She was born Vesta Nadine ADERHOLD on February 3, 1925, in Columbus, GA, daughter of the late Archie M. and Ethel E. (SIZEMORE) ADERHOLD. She was a homemaker and had lived in Dallas for forty years. The ADERHOLD family & their kin, including the NEWSOM / NEWSOME family, resided in Brownville (later Phenix City) from the 1870s, and some cousins remain there today.

Mrs. LAND received a bachelor's degree in social work from the Carver School of Missions in Louisville, KY. A long-time member of Park Cities Baptist Church in Dallas, she was also active for years in the Town North Antique Study Club and was past president of the Dallas Chapter, Lupus Foundation of America.

Mrs. LAND was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Dorothy (ADERHOLD) REDMOND; and an infant brother. She is survived by her husband, Ernest, of Dallas; two sons, Ernst C. (Trudi) LAND, Jr., of Refugio, TX, and John M. LAND, of Dallas; one sister, Mrs. Louie F. GIGLIO, Jr., of Marietta, GA; three brothers, Lester M. (Rae Jean) ADERHOLD, Sr., of Tallahassee, FL, Alton M. (Myrtle) ADERHOLD, Sr., of Rockmart, GA, and Clyde W. (Frances) ADERHOLD, of Orwigsburg, PA; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted at Park Cities Baptist Church, Dallas, on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at 10:00 AM. Later in the week (date and time TBA), a graveside memorial service will be held at Mt. Paron Primitive Baptist Cemetery in Box Springs, Talbot County, GA, where interment will take place.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America (www.lupus.org) or to a preferred charity. Arrangements by Dalton & Son Funeral Home, Lewisville, TX.

The graveside memorial service at Mt. Paron Primitive Baptist Cemetery will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, July 26, officiated by Nadine LAND's nephew, Louie F. GIGLIO, III. The service will actually be held inside the church (air conditioning and places to sit!). To reach Box Springs, take US Hwy. 80 east from Columbus. Not far past the Talbot County line, at Box Springs Road (note: you will come to a Box Springs cut-off first - this is not the place!), turn right and go south. The cemetery and church are almost immediately on your left.

One correction: Martha Jeane (Mrs. Louie F.) GIGLIO, Jr. presently resides at Alpharetta, GA, rather than Marietta. Thanks to all for your kind condolences. - jml

PATE ROBINSON SIZEMORE Reunion - 05 SEP 2009 - Box Springs, GA

Surnames: PATE ROBINSON SIZEMORE
During the reception after my mom's memorial service at Mt. Paron Church in Box Springs, several cousins asked about holding a reunion soon, so...

We have decided to get up a meeting of the PATE, ROBINSON and SIZEMORE families on Saturday, September 5, 2009 (the upcoming Labor Day weekend), at 11 PM at the Mt. Paron Primitive Baptist Church on Box Springs Rd., just south of US Hwy. 80, in Box Springs, Talbot County, Georgia. The reunion is for the descendants of John & Martha Ann (WEATHERS) PATE and of George Washington & Rhoda (UNKNOWN) SIZEMORE - including the descendants of Burrell H. ROBINSON and his two wives, Ferlinia (SIZEMORE) ROBINSON and Gerina (SIZEMORE MOORE) ROBINSON – however, all interested parties are invited and welcome. A number of families related to the above migrated to Phenix City, particularly during the expansion of the Ft. Benning military reservation in the World War II era.

Also, the recently formed Mt. Paron Primtive Baptist Cemetery Association will meet the same day, Saturday, September 5, 2009, at 4 PM at the church. All interested parties are encouraged to attend and voice their opinion as we discuss the current and future upkeep and improvement of the cemetery property.

For more information on the above reunion and cemetery association meeting, contact Barbara SIZEMORE at 706.269.3991 or John LAND at 469.995.5222.

I am told there will also be a reunion of folk related to the above families at Mt. Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church in Sylvester, Worth County, Georgia, on Sunday, September 6. I don't have any further information on that, except that I believe Harold SIZEMORE of Cusseta, Georgia, is coordinating that event.

I look forward to seeing everyone soon! - John in TX
