I need some assistance in locating KICK family members in Hesse/Kurhesse in Germany. My Schmidt family members are also supposed to have come from there. I think the Kicks came from Darmstadt or somewhere very close. Hartman Kick was the one who left and went to New Orleans. I think they were Jewish. He took with him his wife and family and his niece Katie and nephew, Fred kick. Katie was my great-grandmother.
Jacob Schmidt was from Kurhessen(?) From all accounts he was a barrel maker, a printer and musician. He went to Ontario, Canada and settled in Ayr. He was either Jewish or part of the Church of the Bretheren.
His mother Catherine and his younger sister went to Fredericksburg in Texas and she was a successful midwife there for years.
