| I am researching a collateral line of my Colbert family and an Elizabeth Mills who was born probably early 1800's and from IL, Gallatin/Saline Co., area, where she and husband Elisha lived, family lore says she "traveled 3 days and 2 nights" to visit her Mother. Family lore also says she was Indian related, but we aren't sure of that. Your message caught my eye because of the Irish descendancy also, and perhaps finding out more will help us also with the Colbert lines who also came from the South. Where in IL is this Mills Cemetery you speak of, and I wonder if some of your descendants might not be connected with our Elizabeth Mills Colbert, whose husband died in the Civil War. I am finding a William, in the area who could be the father, and that Elizabeth was very possiblely a member of Big Saline Baptist Church, 1850, part of Big Saline United Baptist, Assoc.1854, Elizabeth belongs with Reynolds, Stilley, Ewells, Church’s, Micks Mills live in area of Elisha Colbert and early Baldwins in the area, Caleb in particular. This would be in the area known as Eagle Creek probably at the time. Is there any information you might be able to give that might connect or be helpful. I would appreciate whatever you are willing to share. |
