Thank you for the information. Our line apparently originates from what is today Belgium and according to Belgian historians, is not related to the French one. It became part of the nobility in 1672 under the Spanish regime and still is. None of its members, as far as is known, ever converted as protestants. And I am the first one having emigrated to the USA. But I must confess that there are quite a few coincidences in the history of both.
