Hi Bob,
So far we believe that Hugh Carnahan and Mary had the following children:

Andrew - b. 11 June 1762
Sarah - b. abt 1766
John - b. abt 1768
Mary - b. May 1774

Both Hugh and Mary died fairly young and Andrew, John, and Mary are all in records in Guilford Co., NC as orphans being put under guardianship.

It appears that both Andrew and John married Billingsley ladies. Andrew married Elizabeth and John married Jane. I believe that both were the daughters of James Billingsley and Ann ????. The problem here is that the information in wills and deeds does not match what is shown in that large Billingsley book.

Andrew moved to what later became Tennessee - spent a few years in Kentucky and then back to Tennessee again.

Sarah md Thomas Blair and their family ultimately ended up moving to Arkansas and then Missouri.

John moved to Tennessee, Kentucky, possibly spent a short time in Alabama, and then on to Arkansas. John Carnahan was a very active Cumberland Presbyterian Minister, is credited by some as having preached the first sermon in the Territory of Arkansas in 1812, and was one of the founders of Cane Hill Presbyterian College. Before his death in 1838 he and Jane divorced and he married Mary Pyeatt.

Mary has stayed a bit of a mystery for me. Apparently she married Adam Rainer (Raimer) on 30 May 1791 in Davidson Co., Tennessee.

Would also love to hear from anyone else with info. on these folks.
Take care - Emma
