| Dear Jim, Here goes...my 6th great grandfather and the 1st generation in America was Henry Byrom, who was born about 1670 in Lancashire, England of the family of Byrom of Byrom. It is believed that his father was Peter Byrom of Parr, who died in August 1695 and buried on August 9, 1695 in Winwick Parish Church, Lancashire, the old family church of the Byroms of Byrom. With his brother Peter Byrom, he called himself of Parr, lancashire, and made a bond of indenture with Thomas Tyrer, Alderman of Liverpool, to get passage to America. He was a gunsmith and later planter of Southfarnham Parish, essex County, Virginia. He emigrated in 1696. Both Brothers landed at Norfolk, Virginia, settling in Essex County, Virginia, about 5 miles northwest of Tappahamock, on the Rappahanhock River, in January, 1697. Henry Was married to Francis Mills and proved dead by dismissal of attachment on May 22, 1717. I couldn't find this information earlier, as it is printed in the back of the family history book and I forgot to look there! Duh! Henry and Frances had the following children: John Byrom (1703-1724, James Byrom (1704-1748). Is this of any help to you? Let me know! |
